9/3/2013 16:31:39Heavy (e.g., I can name many role players on teams from the present and recent past)Team 2With so much talent/depth, I looked primarily at who would have the best starting/finishing 5-man unit. They are all incredible teams, obviously, but I have to go with team 2, in particular the 5-man unit of Chris Paul, T-Mac, Lebron, Duncan, and Russell. Lebron is probably the 2nd best player ever, Paul is a historically great PG, T-Mac a historically great scorer, and I think Duncan-Russell is the best 2-way big man combo on this list (Team 5 is incredible with Shaq/Hakeem/Barkley, but I don't they mesh as well together). Team 1 is probably the runner-up, mostly due to the incredible Jordan/Pippen/Bird combo, but I think Robinson/Howard pales in comparison to Duncan/Russell. Plus, Team 2 has some awesome funky/cool players with Maravich, Gervin, and Hardaway.

9/3/2013 23:36:32Fanatical/Professional (e.g., I have an intimate knowledge of front office workings, business operations, and/or locker rooms)Team 1Team one has too much versatility to throw at the rest of the teams. Any deficiency is easily made up by the other 4 players that would most likely be on the court at the same time.

They have specialists that were smart enough to know their weaknesses and make up for them in some way (Reggie was a great flopper and knew how to prod his opponents into making mistakes while playing mediocre defense on the court). I'm tired going to bed sorry was going to type more.
121
9/3/2013 23:40:05Heavy (e.g., I can name many role players on teams from the present and recent past)Team 1Next time it might be easier to visualize if your listings of teams went like this:
Starting 5:
PG:
SG:
SF:
PF:
C:

Bench:

I feel like that would give the reader an easier time imagining the structure of the team, and how starting lineups would be complemented by the second unit.

138
9/4/2013 14:22:16Heavy (e.g., I can name many role players on teams from the present and recent past)Team 1Team 1 appears to be built like the 96 Bulls but with Dirk fulfilling the Kukoc role, improved pg play, and a couple big men to defend true centers that Rodman would have trouble with (Robinson is a lovely Longley overkill). The entire roster fits well into the triangle system they would likely run.

Team 2 appears to be built like our most recent olympic team. They have a better post presence because of Duncan but are likely not built to beat the original dream team.

Team 3 has one of the best distributors, the most shooting, and one of the better available centers. Even if they aren't your pick, that much shooting always has a chance to win.

Team 4 is set up to be what the most recent championship Lakers wished they were. Kobe with double centers has been proven deadly effective. However, this style of play is going to limit Isiah Thomas as a distributor and the team lacks a player who can shut down the GOAT 3's who will be too big for this team's shooting guards.

Team 5 is having an identity crisis. I just don't see a well known offense/defensive scheme that is going to get the most out of that group.

So in the end all the teams are going to have similar talent levels. It is really going to come down to how well players would mesh. The olympic team won more on talent than being a perfect fit and team 5 is a bit of a mess. Team 3 could be the best but they will have the same problem Woodson has balancing offensive and defensive lineups. This isn't so much a problem in the NBA, but would be easier to expose when the entire league has this much concentrated talent.

Surprise, surprise, I'm left trying to decide if Phil Jackson or Phil Jackson designed a better scheme to get the most out of stupid large amounts of talent. Who am I kidding, replacing the 96 Bulls role players with GOAT versions of those skillsets is going to win out here. Team 1
