Sample entry4.25wrote my intro letter (30 min), watched Growth Mindset ted talk (10 min), revised my intro letter (30 min), started my introduction to the class (1 hour) , read from OGWB(2 hours)The concepts of growth and fixed mindset will stick with me because I can think of specific moments when I had a fixed mindset. For example, two years ago I enrolled in a class to learn to sew a shirt entirely by hand. One of the first steps was to prepare the linen fabric by pulling threads. I didn't understand the concept even after the teacher explained it. I got so frustrated that I left the Zoom- even though I'd been looking forward to the project and participating in the class was a birthday gift from my husband. I was ready to forget about the whole project and told myself I was no good at hand sewing. Then I thought about the concept of growth mindset and asked myself what I would do if I had a growth mindset. I asked questions in the class Slack and rewatched the video, slowing it down so I could better understand how to accomplish pulling the threads. I practiced a few times on some scrap fabric, and while it took me a long time, I finally grokked how to pull threads. In fact, earlier this week, I decided to pull threads to help me get a perfectly straight line on some curtains I'm sewing. Guess what? It was fun (that surprised me). I felt really accomplished and even emailed the teacher. When I'm writing a longer piece, it helps me to draft it and then put it aside for 24 hours and then return to it to revise. I'm okay. It's the first week and I feel refreshed from summer. For my self care this week I hiked with Oskar, took a bike ride, and cleaned my desk.
