How to use this spreadsheet: These are names (and pronouns, where possible) of people who responded to a tweet asking for nonbinary volunteers who'd be okay with their names being used in linguistics examples. If you use these names in linguistics examples, it is NOT okay to misgender / ignore the pronouns I included here. If you use these names/pronouns for any other purpose, please do so in a way that respects the privacy and consent of the volunteers, and does not threaten their anonymity. Try not to scoop me on an onomastics paper, please. If you're cis, consider not writing an paper about trans stuff without a trans first author. In general: be cool, okay? Who's keeping this list? Kirby Conrod is a trans nonbinary linguist at the University of Washington; they research sociosyntax around pronouns and other gender stuff in grammar. You can email them at kconrod@uw.edu with questions, or to ask that your entry in this list be (updated, removed, altered, etc.). This is not a formal survey and has not been reviewed by an ethics board. The purpose of the list is to provide linguists with names to use in example sentences, which historically have suffered from significant gender bias. I will update the list periodically. You may share the link with others, including linguistics students.
