|PURPOSE: To introduce the rider and/or horse to the sport of dressage. To show understanding of riding the horse forward with a steady tempo into an elastic contact with independent, steady hands and a correctly balanced seat. To show proper geometry of figures in the arena with correct bend (corners and circles).||RIDER #||7435|
USDF INTRODUCTORY LEVEL – TEST B
|Enter working trot rising.|
Halt through medium walk.
Salute - Proceed working trot rising.
|Straightness on centerline and in transitions; clear trot and walk rhythm.||6||6||drifting left and right into and out of unblanaced halt, needs to be quicker out of halt|
|2||C||Track left, working trot rising.||Balance and bend in turn.||6||6||shows some bend and fair energy, tight over back|
|3||E||Circle left 20 meters, working trot rising.||Roundness and size of circle; clear trot rhythm and bend.||6||6||circle poorly placed in arena- should be centered around X, needs energy and steadier connection, fairly consistent bend|
|4||Between K & A||Medium walk.||Willing and balanced transition; walk rhythm.||6.5||6.5||very fluid transition but quite early, nice march- keep forward feel in bridle to maintain softer topline|
|5||F-E||Free walk.||Complete freedom to stretch neck forward and downward; clear walk rhythm, straightness on the diagonal; ground cover.||8||8||lovely quality, try to keep hands closer together and pushing forward towards horse's ears|
|6||E-H||Medium walk.||Willing and balanced transition; clear walk rhythm.||7.5||7.5||elastic transition, show a bit more difference between FW and MW|
|7||Between H & C||Working trot rising.||Willing and balanced transition; clear trot rhythm.||6||6||could be more prompt|
|8||B||Circle right 20 meters, working trot rising.||Roundness and size of circle; clear trot rhythm and bend.||6||6||steady tempo but incosistent bend, rider pitched forward needing balance from rein|
Halt through medium walk. Salute.

Leave arena in free walk. Exit at A.
|1||Gaits||Freedom and regularity||7||7|
|2||Impulsion||Desire to move forward with suppleness of the back and steady tempo.||6.5||6.5|
|3||Submission||Acceptance of steady contact, attention, and confidence.||6.5||2||13|
|4||Rider’s Position and Seat||Keeping in balance with the horse||6||6|
|5||Rider’s Correct and Effective Use of the Aids||Correct bend and preparation of transitions||6.5||6.5|
|6||Geometry and Accuracy||Correct size and shape of circles and turns||6||6|
|Honest and willing horse. Potential for higher scores. Ride more energatically forward into a soft hand to create a longer and rounder topline and steadier connection. Rider tends to stand on her toes which throws her upper body forward rather than allowing the weight to sink down and use her core for balance both for herself and her horse. Work on developing a more secure position to help you keep horse balanced from side to side as well as back to front.|
