|The University of Maine Pulp & Paper Foundation||Considering Engineering Summer Program||The UMaine Pulp & Paper Foundation's "Consider Engineering" program is offered three times in July to groups of 34 high school students who have completed their junior year of study and who are well-suited to becoming engineers. The four-day, free of charge, on-campus "camp" gives students opportunities to experience the rewards and challenges of both college life and technical careers. Students participate in about 20 activities and are introduced to nearly two dozen UMaine faculty, engineers and engineering students. Admission to the program is competitive with about 2/3 of the applicants being selected to participate.||July 10-13, 2016

|USM||Maine Summer Youth Music Camp (MSYM) 2016||Immerse yourself in music this summer on the beautiful UMaine campus!
Maine Summer Youth Music campers have the unique opportunity to participate in either Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Chorus, or Strings Ensemble. Additional ensembles will include Jazz Bands, Combo and Musical Theatre. Campers may also participate in jazz improvisation, small ensembles, chamber groups, music classes and master classes. Recreational activities are planned for midweek of camp, as well as other organized events, including concerts by faculty and students. A limited number of scholarships are available to qualifying applicants.

|USM||Maine Youth Leadership Seminar||Local leaders and Maine decision-makers graciously donate their time and expertise to our seminar program. Leaders such as former Maine Governor Angus King, Maine Supreme Court Chief Justice Leigh Saufley, USM President Selma Botman and Newspaper Columnist Bill Nemitz are just a few of talented presenters who interact with our future leaders. Students also take part in small group decision-making exercises, public speaking opportunities, creative skits and hands-on volunteer projects. A dance and talent show are two of the social activities where students have an opportunity to make lasting friendships with their peers.
