Travis Moore, 2009 - 2015: You sign up for this— and take on the long hours and low pay and constant stress— because you believe in something bigger than yourself. Most days it’s a thankless job. Some days are worse, being on the end of an angry call or hallway encounter. But the country needs you. Now more than ever. Hill staff remain the smartest, hardest working collection of individuals I’ve encountered. We appreciate the sacrifices you are making. We are thinking of you. Keep your head up.

Marci Harris, 2007-2010: We walked the same halls, sat at the same desks, undertook many of the same tasks but never imagined that what occurred on Jan 6 was possible. We are sickened that a historic building and symbol of democracy was desecrated. We are outraged and heartbroken that you were terrorized in your workplace. We know that staffers stay out of the spotlight. You whisper your advice. You write the words that others speak. You hold the phone and sort the mail and listen to the stories and follow up on the cases. We know that you are the heart and soul of the People's House. A community of staffers who came before stand with you. And we sincerely thank you for your service.

Kristin Nicholson, 1996-2017: Thank you. The work you do is so important, and rarely have you been asked to perform it under circumstances as difficult as these. Please know that we are here to support you, to amplify your needs and concerns, and to ensure that your fellow citizens recognize your contribution to our country. We stand with you, always.

Kathy Goldschmidt, 1995-1997: Though I worked on the Hill for a short time, I have dedicated my career to Congress and congressional staff through the Congressional Management Foundation. Congress is one of the most challenging and rewarding workplaces anywhere. It is driven by dedicated staffers who willingly sacrifice much. I see you. I feel for you. I am here to help you.

Ryan Bowley, 2003 - 2009: Thank you for your hard work and dedication every day and especially right now. Your commitment to public service is an inspiration to our nation. It - and you - will play a major part in helping us through these difficult times.

Anna Kain, 2013-2015: ‘Thank you’ doesn’t seem adequate in times such as these, but I am so grateful for what you do every single day. Whether you’re a CoS or a Staff Assistant, you are the heart of our government. Our 244-year-old democracy still takes my breath away and it’s because of you. You are patriots, you are heroes, you are essential.

Tom Manatos, 2002-2011: THANK YOU! Thank you to the ones sweeping up the glass and patching the holes, to the ones working on the front lines to protect the institution from further harm, and to the ones ensuring our Congress keeps running. The work that you do keeps our democracy intact. We are here for you, never hesitate to ask for help.

Sonja Ferrell , 1998-2011: You have all been on my heart and mind all week. Staff dont receive the just attention for their roles in protecting their bosses and our heritage and quite frankly our future. May the memories fade and the resiliency grow as we go through the coming days and weeks.

Keenan Austin Reed, 2011-2020: To my beloved hill family, we know that being a public servant particularly a hill staffer is a selfless act. We put our needs after our bosses, the constituents and the guests. We miss big family events, holidays and happy hours to serve our country. This time put YOU first. Chris Vandeventer, 1998-2005, 2018: I’ve been where you are. I survived 9/11 and anthrax. Our values were attacked then just as they are now. Hang in there. Regardless party staffers current and former staffers know we chose this line of work because we love our country and have a desire to be part of something bigger than ourselves. There is no higher calling that that of public service. Thank you for all you do and stay safe.

Laurelie Wallace, 2006-2007: Dear Hill Staff, Thank you for your hard work and dedication to our country. Congress is institution full of history. We are in difficult times but your resilience and passion is admirable. Stay safe and be well.

Mariel Lim, 2007 - 2013: The attack on our nation's Capitol was traumatic, and it is okay to not be okay. Particularly for BIPOC staffers. As former Hill staffers, we support you, we thank you, and we love you. While you may have each other to lean on, please reach out to any of us if you need anything at all. You are appreciated more than you know.

Adriane Casalotti, 2010-2016: For many, the Capitol is a symbol of the ideals of our nation. But it can only live up to those ideals thanks to the tireless work of Congressional staff. Thank you and know that we support you.

Amy Dudley, 2009-2010; 2013-2017: Ever in awe of your strength, resilience and dedication to public service and upholding our fragile democracy -- but especially over an unprecedented past four years that culminated with an attack on what feels like a second home to all of us, the Capitol. Be kind to yourselves and each other as you heal from the unimaginable terror of that day.

Naomi Seiler, 2003-2010: Thank you for your courage, your persistence, and your work to uphold democracy. You guys are the glue holding together what makes our country what it is. I am so grateful for you.

Alpha Lillstrom, 2007-2013: Congress could not function, succeed, or be the institution of democracy without you and your colleagues. While I'm sure your sense of security has been shattered, please know that there are so many of us who understand and respect what you are facing. I know I am not alone in vowing to support you as well as the stabilization and restoration of our democratic ideals so that all Americans can be proud of their democracy.

Shin Inouye, 2007-2008: Working on the hill often means long hours, demanding deadlines and workloads, and intense political battles. You do it all behind the scenes, and you are the engines that allow your bosses and the Congress to operate. What happened on January 6, 2021 was an attack on our democracy and the Congress itself. Please know we all appreciate you and thank you for all you do.

Victoria Tung, 2003-2009: As a former Hill staffer, I am constantly in awe of the dedication and commitment Hill staffers have to make our country a better place. Thank you for your service! Please know that we are here for you. Please take this time for self-care and healing as that in itself is an act of resistance from the oppression we are facing right now.

Brian Greer, 2006 - 2019: Congressional Staff, we all appreciate your dedication to public service and all that you do in support of our government. You are the guardians of our democracy and are under-appreciated. We are here to support you as you navigate a new Administration and new Congress.

I have made it my career to understand the work you do because it is so important, so critical to our democracy. Your job is extraordinarily challenging even under the best of circumstances. You should be proud of the work you do, especially in the aftermath January 6. I know am. Thank you.

Anne Meeker, 2016-2020: Y'all have to be tough, smart, capable people to do what you do, and it's easy to get so used to taking care of other people you forget to check in with yourself. If you've told a friend, coworker, direct report, or whatever to take the time/get the help they need recently.... remember to take your own advice too :)

Laura Maristany, 2005-2009: Thank you for continuing to serve on the frontlines of our democracy. Your commitment to our country matters. Mark Christopher, 2003: We believe in you! If hearing about past scares helps, I interned on the Hill soon after the 9/11 anthrax attacks and was there the day they first distributed gas masks. (I learned that the only thing worse than needing a gas mask because of where you work is learning that there's no mask for you because you're an intern!) Times have been tough before, but you can make it through. Our country needs you.

Linda Mancillas, 2010-2011: I served on the Hill during the healthcare riot and remember how scared I was. Please know that you are very much appreciated and those of us that have been in your shoes--Understand the danger. I am very proud of all of you and know that your service to our country is one of the most important things you can do. My love and concern is with you always. LKM

Alex Sarnowski, 2009-2016: The hill is one of the most unique working environments in the world. That comes with pluses and minuses- but at least you know you’re doing it in the service of freedom, democracy and our great country. Alec Buckley, 2015-2019: First, I just want to say thank you for your service, keeping the country running during a deadly pandemic. From the staffers, to the lovely folks at Cups, and the Capitol Police that put themselves in harms way to protect our democracy and our congressional leaders. It's disgusting that any of you had to endure this. It is my hope that this never happens again. Again, thank you. Never give up. .

Alan Roth, 1985-1997: While the country watched the Capitol building attacked, those of us who sat at your desks and walked the same halls watched a different kind of attack -- an attack on the people who comprise the Congress, and especially the often invisible staff who make the place run. We share your sadness, fear, and anger. Healing doesn't happen magically. It takes time and space. Give yourselves that.
