Many kids in the Hastings Public School District often are left without a healthy meal on the weekend. Throughout this project our 4-H club would like to work with the United Way to pack meals to put into kids backpacks.

Jack Pine Pals 4-H ClubClearwater Jack Pine Pals Help with Holiday HungerOur 4-H club donates to our local food shelf once a year. We would like to offer Holiday items in a bag with ingredients that a family could prepare their own holiday meal. We would check with the food shelf to see what they suggest for items. We would hand out bags on December 20th, 2023.

Farmers Friends 4-H ClubLe SueurLeprechaun Food DriveMembers of our club will go door to door collecting food and/or monies for our local Elysian food shelf. We will dress up in a St. Patrick's/4-H theme making it extra entertaining. When we are finished we will deliver all food and monies to the food shelf.

Dresser Valley 4-H ClubOlmstedStock the Truck: A mobile nutrition collaborative projectThe Landing is a nonprofit organization that provides services for people experiencing homelessness. They have a mobile unit to help distribute food and basic necessities to people in need throughout the community. Our 4-H club would like to help stock the mobile unit with food and supplies.

Otsego 4 Leaves 4-H ClubSherburnePledging Our 4-H Dairy Farming Hands to Larger ServiceMany of our club members live on a dairy farm. The CAER Food shelf lacks fresh dairy products so we would use our $500 to partner with our dairy co-op to sell them to us at a discount. We also will coordinate a winter clothing drive for the food shelf which is in dire need of warm winter gloves.

St. John's Roadrunners 4-H ClubKandiyohiSenior Kits for the CommunityWe will pack senior kits and help distribute them with the Kandiyohi County Food Shelf and the Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors. We will pack a few items that can help relieve the budget for seniors and hand them out near the holiday season.

Beltrami County 4-H ProgramBeltramiProvide turkeys to local food shelfTo purchase turkeys for the local food shelf. We have worked with the local grocery store to purchase turkeys so the kids can deliver to our local food shelf. We have done this in November so they have them for the holiday season

In School Program taught by 4-H / U of M Extension Educator DouglasApplied Food & Nutrition ClassGrade 7-12 students are taking an Applied Food & Nutrition course. This course's connection to 4-H is that the instructor is a volunteer U of M Douglas County Extension Educator. One component of the course will be to learn what foods are healthy and then do a food drive for these types of foods.

ROCK supplies weekend meals for students in our school district that suffer from food insecurity. We are also helping to pack those meals at our March meeting. Our club loves helping other kids!

Milan Navigators 4-H ClubLac qui Parle Let's have a slumber party!We want to provide community youth their very own tie fleece blanket and a special pillow case and pillow so they can snuggle and feel comfort. We would partner with LqP Family Services and the food shelf to distribute them to youth in need. Our goal is to work together and see smiles!

Glencoe Jr Pioneers 4-H ClubMcLeodTurkey DriveWe will purchase frozen turkeys to donate to our local food shelf for the upcoming holiday season. The food shelf will also match our donations. We will also solicit additional donations from our members and other local organizations.

Olmsted County 4-H ClubOlmstedHumbly Helping Hungry PeopleWe will be collecting food to donate to the Plainview/Elgin food shelf. We will be setting up a table outside Bennets grocery store in Elgin to collect food as a club. We are going to plan this fundraiser after the holidays in early March when resources tend to be lower for the food shelf.

In addition, we would offer to match cash donations from our club and use the money from the food challenge to purchase turkeys.

Agencies that are working with low income families will notify us of the number of baskets they would like for their clients.

To challenge the Stevens County 4-H Club Leaders and Ambassadors to take on this project and grow in their civic engagement and leadership. To establish valuable partnerships with the Stevens County Food Shelf and Farm Bureau to magnify our reach, service, and support.
