Very interesting game. Got the stage where I reveal 2 cards and lose my hand, which was unfortunate because I was holding on to a copy of Vilya. Then Eowyn got hit by Lost and Alone and shuffled into my deck. Then Treebeard defended an attack and got hit by Sudden Pitfall, discarding him. The undefended damage went to Arwen and killed her. With Just Elrond, Firyal, and Glorfindel I thought I would lose, as 2 enemies were currently engaged with me. Next turn Elrond gets hit by Lost and Alone and shuffled into my deck, which turned out to be a great boon because I could take all the attacks undefended. I engaged some enemies that were in the staging area because they were no longer a threat. With the staging area clear Glorfindel and Firyal made progeress, then on the final turn I drew into Eowyn and quested everyone to victory.

Did a second attempt just to make sure I didn't get lucky with the Balrog's shadows. Won again with the same score. Being able to stack the deck for Dark Pit using the Stargazer really helps, though I probably didn't need it on this attempt as I managed to get 19 damage on him and the deck has a high cost curve.

In NM mode the Marsh Dweller starts in play. Here's the strategy I used. Choose Hidden Eyot. Play down chump blocker. Quest with only Eowyn. Engage Dweller, chump block him. Trigger Eowyn, attack with all heroes to kill the dweller. Next turn travel to Hidden Eyot. Turn after that explore it to add 2 more time tokens. Altogether you get 5 rounds to beat the stage. Works well even on the stage that limits you to playing 1 card per turn because Vilya gets around that. Once on stage 3 I had a decent amout of allies, including Faramir, so I just quested past the Dweller. On stage 4 I was able to combine Beorn and a Marksman to kill the Dweller right away.

Found Elrond Early, stalled in Stage 2 until I got through my entire capture deck and found Eowyn (not realizing the effect on the new Jailor Gornakh) so that I could satisfy the nightmare mode condition. This made stage 3 pretty trivial because I had an army out by then (though I did have a sad moment where I lost Treebeard with 12(!) resource tokens to an untimely Angmar Marauder shadow.

Really exciting game. Thought I was going to lose when I turned up an undead Thrall on turn 1. Completed the Sift Through the Debris sidequest. Turned up another Trall in stage 2. Kept takeing undefended attacks and healing them off with Elrond+Warden. Triggered Eowyn on the second-to-last turn to deal enough damage then quested to victory. Firyal saved my game multiple times.

If I wasn't convinced of this deck's ability absurd power already, this playthrough would've done it. Guarding my initial guarded objective at the start of the game was none other than the Corsair Warship (Boarding 3, Archery 4). I was seriously considering just scooping and resetting. Then on turn 1 I reveal a Light Crusier (4 threat, Boarding 2) followed soon after by a Heavy Cruiser (5 threat, Boarding 2). I played down some cheap allies to help with sailing and kept sending everyone else to the quest. Thankfully with my high willpower characters I was able to avoid failing the quest and managed to keep my threat down to avoid engageing the ships. By turn 3 I was able to find a Warden of Healing and to combat the 4 archery damage I was taking each turn. Slowly with Vilya I got to the point where I could start taking down ships. First one was the Scouting Ship that starts in the staging area becasue I failed a sailing test and it engaged me. Second was the warship so I could claim the objetive, which was the one that allowed me to keep damaging other ships. This was the turning point as it allowed me to kill off ships without them boarding me. Still can't believe that I won this one.

Either way, play whichever ally you got (Marksman or Gandalf) and choose the Stormcaller as the target of the effect. Commit no one to the sailing test. Quest only Eowyn. You should have enough attack power after taking the Stormcaller's attack undefended, defending the corsair with Elrond, and triggering Eowyn, to kill the Stormcaller in one blow. The rest of the quest is easy.

Suprisingly easy. Eowyn and Gandalf were able to kill the Wriath on Wings on turn 2, and I was able to kill each enemy as it appeared thereafter. That meant my ally in the staging area stopped taking damage, and I could turtle in Stage 1 for a long time until half my deck was on the table. Ended with 5 damage on Minas Tirith.

I really regret saving this quest to last.... I was beginning to think I'd never win. This quest really punishes turtling ally armies like no other. Here's how I eventually managed to win:
- Use the Frodo that lets you spend a resource and exhaust the ring to give him +2 willpower. You're going to need it.
- Mulligan for Faramir. He's only 1 all but adds more to willpower than anyone else, and also helps your fortitude tests.
- Dig hard for Unexpected Courage. I had 1 in my opening hand and used Gather Info to find the other. Master of the Forge could be used to find them as well, just make sure to kill him off after he does.
- I had UC on Eowyn and Elrond so they could quest and do Fortitude tests. On one turn, Eowyn can hold back from the quest/test to kill off three enemies with her ability and UC.
- Firyal is critical for her ability to bury the treacheires and prevent them from Surging.

Crazy. Lost Arwen on turn 1 thanks to the Captured Watchtower shadow on the Wolves from Mordor (in retrospect I should've killed of Eowyn instead). Still managed to win, even though Vilya took forever to find. I think this quest is just no longer difficult with modern cards.
