PURPOSE: To confirm that the horse demonstrates correct basics, and having achieved the thrust required in First Level, now accepts more weight on the hindquarters (collection); moves with an uphill tendency, especially in the medium gaits; and is reliably on the bit. A greater degree of straightness, bending, suppleness, throughness, balance and self-carriage is required than at First Level.RIDER #6052

Engagement, uphill balance and quality of trot; clear, balanced transitions; straightness; attentiveness; immobility (min. 3 seconds)77square but clearly not on centerline ( see A behind you), too bad as it looks straight and square but if you are not on the line you lose alot of points..... and you did not corrrect the line...

Shoulder-in right

Turn right
Angle, bend and balance; engagement and quality of trot5210this amount of bend is what is needed for haunches in or half bpass.. Hind legs need to follow the trasck in shoulder in ( you need outside leg) .. Less neck bend for shoulder in.. get three tracks and you need slight poll felxion and shoulder flexion... ( ie this is toow ide asnd too much neck .. almost perfthough for 1/2 pass bend)

Turn left

Shoulder-in left
Angle, bend and balance; engagement and quality of trot6212outisde rein lower to help yoou support correct bend ( need to gently turn at the belly button to ask the shoudlers to flex .. the bend and angle would have been ok but you had the neck pulled over to the right, you need the neck a bit straighter and just poll rotation / the inside rein rettracted too much it shoulde FLEX AND RELEASSE just before shoulder in for poll flexion left and then ride the horse on a slightly lowers /elastic outside rein.....
15
6CHalt, rein back 3 to 4 steps
Proceed medium walk
Immobility; willing steps back with correct rhythm and count; straightness; clear transitions6.5213not quite balanced at the halt.. try to train yourslef not to jump in the saddle to position yourslef. do that in the corner prior to the haslt so you can be immobile as well as the horse and then elegant ly apply aids. Horse could be m ore supple and striahgter in the backing

Medium canter

Collected canter
Moderate lengthening of frame and stride with engagement, elasticity, suspension, straightness and uphill balance; consistent tempo; clear balanced transitions77conservative and poll low / you were focused on keeping him on the bit.. dont forget his shoulders and poll should go UP in Medium canter.. imagine the front of a surf board GOING UP... ride a WAVE UP...
20
11CCircle right 10mRegularity and quality of canter; shape and size of circle; bend; balance6.56.5you are leaning in, using inside rein and pulling neck in.. so he leans in on his shoulder/ leans over and bulges out ie pulled onto shoulder/4hand ---- circles and shortsides and turns must be RIDEN IN, sit on the outside seastbone and use the outside thigh/seat and push the horse in around the outside leg . flex and release the snaffle on the inside for lateral poll flexion only.. if you drop the inside hand and pull in you have mnoved the BASE of the neck in... OOOPPPSS! the flexing of the inside rein must be done very close to the hor5ses mane and it is a wrist turn action to turn one side of the snaffle only which is the request for lateral poll flexion. He is also bulding out theour the short side tune .. ie losing collection

Medium canter

Collected canter
Moderate lengthening of frame and stride with engagement, elasticity, suspension, straightness and uphill balance; consistent tempo; clear balanced transitions77ride the shoulders and poll uphill dont be so focused on being on the bit .. you are pulling him down onto his shoulders... you are lowering and putting your inside hand towards the rind( iside away from his neck and that pulls hyis neck over at the base.. it is not the request for poll flexion... moving the rein to the inside away from the horses neck puts him on his shoulder through turns, hold the rein close to his mane and flex ( turn the side of the snaffle with your srist) for lateral poll flexion-- necessary for the bend while maintinaing a elastic outise rein and outise aids for correct bend on outisde rein

Collected trot
Clear, balanced transition; quality of trot; consistent tempo77shows some lovely cadence.. riders 4 arms aprrallel/ triangulation of the 4arm would alloww more throughness and would assiti in correct sonnection and angle for lateral poll rotation without dropping the poll / rider clearly leans in and stands on right stirruyp to turn onto the diagonal

Change rein, medium trot

Collected trot
Moderate lengthening of frame and stride with engagement, elasticity, suspension, straightness and uphill balance6.56.5see above.. when you leaned it to turn he threw his head up.. ( off bit and then you had to bend left to get back on the bit).. you must learn to turn with your seat level.. use your belly button like a barb er poll.. swivel about 2-3 degrees with eaqual weight on the outise seat bopne... turn the horse IN with the thigh against the twist of the saddle ( men used to say they used their seat.. but this is your aductor muisclenot your buttocks) due to the inital disturbance the horse was hollw to the left all the way across and did not develop the brillance that you miaght have achieved

Halt, salute
Bend and balance in turn; engagement, uphill balance and quality of trot; clear, balanced transition; straightness; attentiveness; immobility (min. 3 seconds)6.56.5not on centerline.. LOOK at the is tape .. if I can see A you are not on the centerline... so the straightness and sqaure halt dfo not get 8-10 scores and since it is the second time I have seen it in the test. it is another small reduction in mark.. the first time a 7 and now 6.5 .. too bad.

a steady well organized test with an obviously talented rider. laterl poll flexion increadingly becomes important as you progress uop the levels and bending on the outside aids.. ie riding a horse IN around a circle rather thean pulling him in and leaning in and the horse bulgion out becomes of paramount importance for collection.
