Here are instructions for how to use this cohort reporting sample spreadsheet:
7
8
1. Look at the Sample Data tab and the notes in the header of each column
9
The data structure for cohort reporting can vary and we've explained the details of each column so that you can understand how each is used and how it flows through the system.
10
11
2. Learn how to build a simple Campaign Cohort Efficacy report
12
This example is a great way to see the power and helpfulness of cohort reporting without getting too deep into formulas.
13
14
3. See how to build the Pivoted Cohort Conversion Data tab.
15
This is where things get a bit more complicated. This is a pivot of the Sample Data and we introduce several new columns that are formula driven. This data serves as the foundation for creating an "impact plot" or "triangle chart," on of the most commonly used visualizations of cohort data.
16
17
4. Understand why copying data to build new pivot tables is helpful
18
While our base data set is really useful for certain types of reporting, reformatting the data into a different row/column structure can be very helpful for other types of visualizations, namely impact plots.
19
20
5. Learn how to understand the mechanics of and build an impact plot
21
This is also a pivot table, but the structure and formulas produce the impact plot. Note that this is a bit more advanced as we leverage a calculated field and COUNTIF formulas in the pivot table.
