MASS MoCAThe National6/11/2016Jodi Josephinfo@massmoca.orgCo-presented with Higher Ground Presents

Tickets available only through the MASS MoCA box office and website.

We’ve been following The National since 1999, the same year we flung open our doors. Since then, the Ohio-raised, Brooklyn-based band—which consists of vocalist Matt Berninger plus two pairs of brothers: Aaron Dessner (guitar, bass, piano) and Bryce Dessner (guitar), and Scott Devendorf (bass, guitar) and Bryan Devendorf (drums) — has landed on every “best of” list in print. Its half dozen albums receive critical praise surpassed only by the adoration of its devoted audience. Rolling Stone declares, “The National have always been fueled by a mix of big-time artistic ambitions and deep-rooted family values.”

The National in concert is a benefit for Hawthorne Valley Association in New York's Hudson River Valley, an organization committed to social and cultural renewal through the integration of education, agriculture and the arts, and MASS MoCA

Begin your evening with a glass or two of prosecco from Mionetto USA, while you enjoy passed savory treats by Kate Baldwin. Catch up with friends and meet new ones while you enjoy the rustic surroundings of the Stables.

Then, be whisked away to lands far and near by a series of guest story tellers with their funny, moving and entertaining tales on our evening's theme "Lessons". Hear about a competitive sport you never knew existed, find out which MSB parent earned the nickname "Mother of Dragons", and learn about home pyrotechnics inspired by Martha Stewart.

We will then retire to the main house to enjoy an eclectic menu at tasting stations by Kate Baldwin, while you enjoy a Berkshire Mountain Distillery signature cocktail, wine, or beer.

Explore the well appointed house and lush grounds of Edith Wharton's estate, and dance the night away with DJ BFG.
