BandDacula High School offers classes for Concert and Symphonic Band and Percussion. Members of these classes combine along with the color guard to create DHS Marching band which practices after school and performs at football games, and marching competitions. Best Buddies ClubEach buddy will be matched with a student(s) in our self-contained department. Georgia Academic DecathlonThe Academic Decathlon is a ten-event national scholastic competition. The events include prepared and impromptu speeches, an essay, Super Quiz oral relay and a series of written tests on subjects ranging from science to art. The Decathlon team consists of nine team members and several alternates. Girls Who CodeThe purpose of Girls Who Code is to teach young girls about computer science in an effort to bridge the gender gap in technology. Throughout the year we will learn the four core concepts of computer science which students will use when developing apps, websites, and programming robots. Mock TrialMock Trial is a competitive organization that simulates a real-life trial in front of a Judge and jury. The organization is designed to help students develop problem solving abilities, advocacy skills and public speaking. Students can serve as both attorneys and witnesses. Model UNModel United Nations is a simulation of the UN General Assembly and other multilateral bodies. In Model UN, students step into the shoes of ambassadors from UN member states to debate current issues on the organization’s agenda. OrchestraThe Dacula High School Orchestra is made up of students who play violin, viola, cello, and bass. It is recommended that students have three years of experience playing a string instrument. The Orchestra performs several times throughout the year. There are also opportunities to perform in smaller chamber groups as well as take field trips. Readers RallyThis club is for students who enjoy reading and discussing books from the Georgia Peach Nominees List. Club members may qualify to be on the Readers Rally team. Quiz BowlQuiz Bowl (Scholars Bowl, Scholastic Bowl, Academic Team, etc..) is a “sport of the mind” that tests players on a wide variety of academic subjects. The game is typically played with a lockout buzzer system between two teams, usually consisting of four or five players each. Players are read questions and try to score points for their team by buzzing first and responding with the correct answer.
