What ideas do you have for PTA events and programs that you'd like to see? Or not see? Or change?
71
Fundshifting - 19%
72
I'd also like to see us contribute a percentage of our fundraising annually to another community school or participate in a neighborhood foundation that supports multiple schools in West Seattle that are not as economically advantaged as Genesee Hill.
73
pooling auction dollars with other WS schools and distributing funds to all WS SPS schools for equity.
74
Please help fund share/support local schools who don't have strong PTAs
75
I would like to see the schools pool PTA funds so that all schools can have a strong PTA. I do appreciate the school supplies being provided by PTA funds. I think this could be on a much greater scale by supporting a district-wide pooling of funds so that every school can be supported by PTA.
76
I’d like for the GH PTA to partner with other WS elementary schools to redistribute the funds at GH to less advantaged schools in the area. There was an article in the South Seattle Emerald about 12 SE Seattle schools have merged their PTAs and are sharing their funds. GH PTA should spearhead this and take a step towards equity.
77
I'd like our PTA to share money with schools that have little to no parent funding. We can't talk equity while we benefit from a seriously inequitable situation. It's literally the number 1 thing we can do, and yet it seems like we put more stock in awareness events, rather than addressing the money issue. Some ideas: Allow parents to pay for school supplies for another school (since our kids get it for free, we could give the option to parents to donate what they would spend); have several items at the auction that are specifically for other schools; do "matching" donation drives.
78
Supporting other neighboring schools who can't raise as much. I would like to see 10% of our fundraising go to another school or see us participate in a collaborative fundraising foundation that supports multiple schools in the West Seattle or greater Seattle area.

Community Building - 17%
81
Would love the in person, fun, community building events again.
82
events focused on community building w/o emphasis on fundraising
83
opportunities for gathering, less structured 'get things done' and more community building
84
Host events that create community
85
Focus on improving the quality of education and sense of belonging to a community for all students before any other subjects
86
I also think the PTA needs to really focus on community building through cohort events this next year. There are so many new families that don’t feel part of the community because of the pandemic so I really think some good old fashion get to know you events are in order.
87
88
Fundraising Ideas
89
I recently learned that the money raised benefits the current school year and not the following year. I think this would be beneficial information to share with parents/guardians early on in the year and during each fundraiser to "encourage" donations that are helping NOW, not the following calendar year. I think many people think, "I'll do that later" or maybe " wait and see what the needs are for next year " or even " my kiddo won't be here next year so I am not going to donate now". If people understand the donations are for the current claendar year, I feel people would be more likely to reach for their checkbooks.
90
Combine fundraisers into one so that you are asking for money in one lump sum and not multiple times in the Spring.
91
Not see- Formal auctions that are not appealing to some groups of people. A different sort of event for a main fundraiser.
92
Move a thon did NOT provide enough notice on getting families, neighbors and friends to participate. My kids traditionally would reach out to these people with their plan, ask for pledges, do the event and followup with donors for the $$$$. I don't plan to ask anyone for $$$. I think this could have been helped by notifying the donation plan in advance so families could make a plan.
93
I would like to see the PTA continue to send clear messages that our fundraising supports key support staff positions. I believe those are the most critical services the PTA provides.
94
95
Event Ideas
96
No more virtual events!
97
I would like the school to resume the Halloween parade at school and unifying events like the flag raising to kick off the first day of school.
98
Bingo night!
99
I’d love for events to have virtual options or a mixture of both.
100
Keep some virtual PTA meetings and/or events; perhaps offer a hybrid option
