5Some spottingCalled my dr when I had spotting. They had me come in for a blood test to confirm I was still preg. It was nice reassurance and no one acted like I was hysterical
4
6Ultrasound: hear the heartbeat, get due date, get picture of the fetus. Transvaginal ultrasound (they stick a wand up your vag). It's lubey - I wear loose dark clothes to these appts bc sometimes the lube gets on my clothes Order and start reading Expecting Better by Emily Oster

7Opened a tab on phone w/ pregnancy calculator and keep it open for planning purposes- Nausea
- Food Aversions
- Required 10-12 hours/sleep to function
- Foggy brain
- Bloating
- need to pee all the time
- so thirsty
- leg pain
- sharp lower abdomen pain randomly
- intense gag reflex
- get too hot fast and feel hungover for days after. If I'm preg in the summer again we're summering somewhere colder.
- Hives from random foods (nothing serious, just hives down my neck and chest)
- Sensitive gums
Eat what you can. I could only eat tacos and carbs so was worried about the baby getting nutrients but my dr assured me that my body will get the baby what it needs.
Exercise: Check w/dr but exercise gave relief from nausea for me. Lifting much lighter weights and my Peloton output is -100 compared to pre-pregnancy.
YOGA: I've been doing 3 20 min Peloton classes/week. the hip opener classes have been a lifesaver
Work the pelvic floor: I follow Expecting and Empowered's plan
Don't fight it: eat what you can, sleep as much as you can. My dr reminded me that pregnancy is much harder than running a marathon.
Acupuncture helped a lot with nausea
Remember everyone has babies: teenagers, crazy people, and they're fine.

10Genetics blood test: Scans for chromosomal abnormalities and sex. If you're 35+ insurance covers this, if you're under 35 call your insurance. w/o insurance mine was going to be $500 but I could complete a survey that made it $250. Results take ~1 wkOrder pregnancy pillow

12Ultrasound: Check fetus development and Nuchal Translucency. It's over the belly, also lubey so dress accordingly. Results on the spot.
10
13Start daycare search (a lot of waitlists are 1 year).

15Woke up feeling miraculously better and wanting vegetables one morning, and stayed up past 9pm. Panicked, my dr said it's the second trimester energy surge.
13
1616 weeks appt: blood pressure, listen to heartbeat via a doppler monitor thing, AFP blood test. Not a messy appt, really quick. started showing
14
17Ordered Old Navy maternity workout clothes (leggings tops)
15
18Started rent the runway: maternity clothes are corny and expensive, RTR options feel good and it's cost effective compared to buying mat clothes new.

20Anatomy scan: 1 hour+ appt. Over the belly ultrasound that lasted ~30 mins followed by regular dr appt. They also do another transvaginal wand activity to measure your cervix. Lubey appt - dress accordingly.

This is when my dr. said to stop doing exercises on my back
- Start doula search (I use DC Birth Doulas)
- Tell work and figure out maternity leave process
- Started taking daily Baby Asprin (81 mg) and magnesium per my dr's recommendation
- Started planning baby shower
Ordered yoga bolster to stack on yoga blocks to do exercises/yoga on the back with support.
This pic is how to use it

21- Start registry (note: carseat depends on the stroller you choose)
- Order and skim Moms On Call so I knew what resources I'll have when the baby gets here
- Sign up for birth class: recommended to do this before end of 2nd tri. I did a class through my doula (anyone can sign up but you get a discount if they're your doulas)
Throughout 2nd and 3rd tri:
- Heartburn
- Insomnia
- hip pain
- back discomfort
- Feet hurt
- more clumsy
Registry: Find 2 parents who are doing it well and get their product recs. Recommend having your partner pick 3 of their top items from the registry so that when people ask "what do you REALLY want so I can get you that?" they don't say "Play Station 5" or "Lindsay was in charge I don't know anything" -- this will prevent a lot of arguments.
Books: Insomnia scrolling will have you adding shit you don't need to your registry and over-researching. Have some good books on hand so the insomnia doesn't make you nuts and to avoid too much IG time

26If going on a baby moon do it by now. My flight at 23 weeks was uncomfortable AF.
24
27Figure out task division for post-birth so you don't kill your partner. Reading Fair Play to help me with this.- Vericose veins popping. Ordered compression socks.
- Bloody stools (called my dr, said it's likely hemorrhoids which are common during pregnancy). On the topic of bowel movements..2nd trimester I was either extremely constipated or the opposite- no in between. My dr said this is normal.
25
28Glucose test: 1.5 hour appt. Drink a nasty juice and chill for an hour, then they run a test to see how your body processes it. If you fail you come back next week for a 3 hour gestational diabetes test. I failed.
- Also got TDAP and flu shot at this appt. If partner hasn't gotten TDAP in the last 10 yrs they can get it here too
Ordered breast pump. Insurance covers a portion. I used Aeroflow - they coordinate with your insurance, show you the cost post-insurance coverage, and then you order directly through Aeroflow.Weird coloring around belly button started. Looked like a bruise, dr said it was the start of linea nigra
26
293 Hour Glucose Tolerance Test: Only have to do this if you don't pass the initial glucose test. A lot of my friends didn't pass the initial test, we all passed the 3 hour- still impt to go bc there is a lot that can be prevented if they DO identify gestantional diabetes. Had to fast (no food or drink) for 8-12 hrs prior to 8 am LabCorp appt. They do an initial blood draw as soon as you get there, and then a blood draw every hour for 3 hours. I asked to wait in my car because sitting in the waiting room is uncomfortable, brought a book and podcasts to listen to. I read to eat lots of protein and low carbs after the appt to help your body regulate after the drink. If possible, take the rest of the day off of work - I attended a few meetings but was completely wiped and slept for hours afterwards.Purchased Maternity Belt-Energy levels tanked
- Brain fog
- Insomnia not as consistent as past weeks (3-4 nights/week as opposed to every night)
- Anxiety skyrocketed: I have been pretty calm most of the pregnancy but starting around week 28/29 the anxiety came back in full force.
- Hearburn in full force
