• Severe disruption in the workplace due to COVID-19 impacts youth disproportionately

• Young people aged 15-24 comprise 44.6% of all unemployed Filipinos

• Of the 1.2 million Grade 12 students who graduated last April 2018, 20% did not pursue higher education

• Even though employers are becoming more receptive to hiring non-degree holders, majority still look at credentials rather than skills, especially for promotions

First Future 2.0 project will help the youth get into the workplace and move up the career ladder by developing re/skilling and upskilling programs that are industry-vetted and recognized, which youth can access through various modes of delivery

Objectives:

Developing widely available and industry-vetted training programs

(1) Map out career pathways for entry level employees

(2) Design industry-vetted re/skilling and upskilling training programs for mapped pathways

Creating a pipeline of future employees via in_x0002_school and in-company programs by institutionalizing:
○ Skilling training program in DepEd
○ Re/Skilling and upskilling training programs within companies and in post-secondary [training] institutions

(3) Capacitate companies, training institutions, and DepEd schools that will adapt the training programs

(4) Project Launch & Relaunch First Future website withcontent on re/skilling and upskilling training programs

(5) Have a general reach of 4,000

(6) Encourage youth to enroll in re/skilling and upskilling training programs

Outcomes:

(1) Expand the pool of potential employees. Skilling/reskilling programs can serve as
a hub for competent entry-level candidates

(2) Empower newcomers to take on advanced responsibilities. Employees with skills
needed in the “next step” of the career ladder see themselves in a higher position

(3) See overall improvement on productivity. Improved skills and opportunities for
career progression make employees more motivated and less likely to seek job
opportunities elsewhere, allowing your business to retain the skilled workforce
and achieve your goals

(4) Give greater hope. Youth can get a descent job and prosper in the workplace with
their skills and competencies obtained through quality trainings.
