Brophy College PreparatoryAZ2006Blair CookWe are a 1:1 school since 2006 and Google Apps has been a large part of it. We use email, docs, sites, & calendar, with rapid growth in the services outside of email. Tools work great on smartphones! The collaboration in Docs is great for us as our student body comes from everywhere across the Phoenix metro area. We've been comparing Google Apps to Office 365 and found the MS solution would cost us >$20K more than we pay for Office Pro now!
3
Thayer AcademyBraintree/ MA2010Theresa JayGoogle Apps has improved our communications. The Calendaring feature is used for lab signup. Postini filters & archives email All of these services at no cost.
4
American School of São PauloBrazil2010Derrel Fincher
5
Crossroads School CA2009Paul WayFaculty are still on Exchange, while students are on GMail. We also set up Single Sign On with Whipple Hill. Use primarily for mail, docs, and calendar. Mostly awesome, although the look of calendar can get a little 'busy'. We also use google sites a bit. Most of the clerical staff also uses office 2007 and is slowly adapting to a shared document world.
6
Washington International SchoolDC2010Chad FaireyWe have had Google Apps for a few years and it has been really great. Moved from Exchange, haven't looked back since. is a fantastic email client, the best cloud based doc environment, a decent calendar system, and products are well integrated so users are automatically signed up for other google apps (youtube, flickr etc)
7
Withernsea High SchoolEngland, UK2012MeWe have started using it :)
8
University School of IndianaIA2009ISED-L, CC3We migrated to Google Apps 3 years ago, away from First Class. The
transition was seamless and we couldn't be happier with the product.
Certainly, the price is right!!
9
North Shore Country Day SchoolIL2008Vinnie VrotnyGoogle Apps has transformed how we have been able to communicate and collaborate between students, faculty, and administration. I am a Google Certified Teacher and Trainer and have done several national and regional workshops
10
Lake Forest AcademyIL2009Dave AykroidWe use Gmail for students only, fac/staff to Exchange, works seamlessly with our 1:1 iPad program
11
University of Chicago Laboratory School IL2012ISED-L, CC3
12
Francis Parker SchoolILISED-L, CC3
13
Topeka Collegiate SchoolKS2009ISED-L, CC3Google Apps is free to us and has served our email needs very well. It immediately opened up a great deal more storage space for us. We also use the calendar and the documents applications. It's worked great for us.
14
The Lexington SchoolKY2012Jaime LassmanWe are just dipping our toes into this for now. We have made accounts available only to one grade at first. We are bringing in some faculty, and the plan is to roll it out a little at a time as the year progresses.
15
Bancroft SchoolMA2008Demetri Orlandobeen using google apps for 4 years
16
Belmont Hill SchoolMA2009Liz DavisWe love it! It was a great decision. I highly recommend it.
17
St. John's Preparatory SchoolMA2009Christopher ButlerWe migrated from Exchange 2007 (1200 students, 200 employees). We use GADS (Google Active Directory Sync) to push data to Google from our Active Directory infrastructure. We use LTech's SSO solution for single-sign-on using credentials stored in AD.
18
The Fessenden SchoolMA2009Ced PaineWe introduced Google Apps in 2008 and switched from FirstClass to gmail in 2009. With few FC conferences in existence, the switch was simple and seamless. We literally just did it, giving everyone only a few days notice. Moved the old FC system to a low-end Mac with all receiving and sending disabled so that people could continue to access their old mail if need be.
19
Shore Country Day SchoolMA2010Susan Morgantransitioned from FirstClass and never looked back!
20
Pike SchoolMA2011Demetri Orlandoswitched from FirstClass in June 2011
21
The Meadowbrook School of WestonMA2011Jonathan SchmidMoved from FirstClass. Haven't missed it at all. FirstClass had issues which made it difficult to move data out of, but still very much worth the move.
22
Walnut Hill School for the Arts 2011Demetri Orlando
23
Fay SchoolMA2012Peter FeareyWe are just now doing a pilot as we look to move aware from FirstClass. So far the experience has been great. We already use G Docs and Calendar and look forward to the improved integration. We implemented the WhippleHill SSO module last year and it has worked quite well.
24
MaterDei SchoolMD2009Joan WalshWe love it. We had First Class, Exchange but this is so easy and the faculty plays with it and expands the use without my help.
25
Bryn Mawr SchoolMDSummer 2012Lynn ByankHave been an Exchange School. Did research and decided to move students, faculty and staff to Gmail and Google Apps. this summer..
26
Waynflete SchoolME2009Page LennigWe were a FirstClass school but don't miss it at all. Saw a big increase in collaboration with Google Docs, Calendar, & Sites. It's been a great move.
27
Barstow SchoolMO2011ISED-L, CC3We just converted over the summer from First Class and as these things go, it was very easy. Conferences are missed (Google Groups are not quite the same), but the ease of sharing docs and collaboration more than makes up for it. Calendaring and integration with mobile have been a huge plus. We will be adding the Whipplehill SSO soon.
28
Carolina Friends SchoolNC2011Sharon GuilloryA little tricky having students and staff in different domains (to hide global address book from kids), but once the kinks were worked out, it's great. Google docs a little flaky - sometimes not reachable. We still have our old Barracuda spam filter cleaning up the students email before delivery, so they don't root around in a nasty spam folder in gmail. Most diehard Firstclass users have come around and now love google.
29
Lawrenceville SchoolNJ2011Bill FreitasStudents moved Winter 2011, fac/staff to come
30
Berkeley Carroll SchoolNY2010Tammi WillliamsWe love it. Teachers love it. The kids love it. It's great for collaborating. So much better than First Class and no overhead.
31
Maumee Valley Country Day SchoolOH2011Roger SpurgeonMoved from in-house Exchange server. Students love having a real web interface and our faculty are adjusting to the different style of gmail. Overall reaction has been very positive.
32
Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific UniversityOita / Japan2011StormWe are currently looking for a solution which helps us to integrate our Gmail school email account into our Iphone as we can do to our normal Gmail email account.
33
Greenwood College SchoolOntario, Canada2010Jonathan TepperBecause of our ageing email system, it was time for a new switch. We had a pilot and then a small group of users using Google Apps - after reviewing our strategic plan we decided to move to an end-to-end solution with Google. Collaboration is now easier than ever and compared to other implementations - Gmail was adopted quickly.
34
Oregon Episcopal SchoolOR2009Brad BaugherAll student email is through Gmail, but adults in the domain have an auto forward of gmail to their Exchange accounts on our server. Very happy overall with the move (3rd-12th grades)
35
Harpeth Hall SchoolTN2011Karen DouseWe made the decision when our FirstClass server blew up the second week of school. No regrets - everyone adjusted very well and we are pleased with the decision.
36
Fort Worth AcademyTX2009Darryl LoyTransitioned to GApps from internal Exchange server...smooth transition and thanks to Google Apps Sync, my faculty and staff could really tell no difference. We are integrating Google Docs into the classroom more and more every day. If I've been disappointed about anything it's been Google's recent decision to move away from Postini SPAM filtering...GApps SPAM filtering leaves a great deal to be desired. I've had to completely lock down our student's accounts to prevent them from being hammered with SPAM.
37
Claires Court SchoolsUK2011James WIldingWe have built an entire project for up to 300 schools with which to engage our 70000 pupils and teachers
38
Cape Henry Collegiate SchoolVA2008Kevin ShainWent from an old Mac Mail Server (EIMS) to Google Apps for email out of necessity. Have since also started using calendar and am attempting to get us moved completely to Docs as well.
39
St. Christopher's SchoolVA2011Hiram CuevasHurricane knocked out power for 5 days and local exchange server down too. Moved to Gmail in a few hours to restore communications. Gmail available for Fac/staff and students. We've also been using SSO through WhippleHill since January.
40
Prairie SchoolWI2010ISED-L, CC3if schools such as USC and Yale (and thousands of other private institutions) found Google's privacy statement satisfactory, it would suffice for us
41
Greenhills SchoolISED-L, CC3we migrated from First Class to Gmail this year with very few issues
