Additionally, Sodexo is the contracted caterer for the University and can provide meals and snacks throughout the convention and for any private meetings that may be scheduled.
7.Commitment of State & Local Parties
A committee of four Upstate SC Greens have coalesced to lead this effort. Over the next few months we will bring a few more people into the project. Two of us will serve on the ANMC and at least one of us will work with the webmaster to set up and maintain a website to promote the PNC. As the event grows closer we expect to call on Greens in NC and GA to help promote the turn-out, and on the days of the PNC we expect to put 20 people to work on any given day as needed to guarantee smooth workings. It should be noted that the host site, USC Upstate, has told us that they are there to assist us in accomplishing our goals. They want to host this event, and they are dedicated to us having a very successful event.
8.Other Green Considerations both to the party and to our values
Ballot qualified since 2002, the South Carolina Green Party has consistently run candidates for offices as diverse as Sec. of Agriculture to Town Council to State Legislature to Soil and Water District commission, and has two elected officials to show for it. The party has suffered some recent setbacks with the shooting death of one of the rocks of the Charleston Green Party while he was in New Orleans. But, our state is all too familiar with these sorts of losses. The state's other two established chapters, Upstate and Midlands, continue to carry on promoting both issues and candidates as we face tough challenges ahead. Our local news stations, WYFF, WSPA, and FOX Carolina give broad and fair coverage to local political events, and would likely be interested in covering our event, and SCETV has a facility on campus. The Spartanburg newspaper has offered coverage of Green Party candidates in the past and other media outlets in the state will also be well within reach of our outreach efforts. Our steadfastness and dedication to both campaigns and education has earned us the respect of peers and media in the area. Hosting the PNC should help us build on this foundation. For our out-of-state visitors we are a short distance from Atlanta and Charlotte, two of the South's most dynamic cities. We are but an hour from Asheville NC, and all the wonders of the Western North Carolina mountains, and 4 hours from Myrtle Beach, and the immediate area around Spartanburg features a wide array of cultural and outdoor activities. Spartanburg hosts two cooperatives, the West Main Street Artist's Coop and the Hub City Writer's Group Bookstore. The city itself is about 48% black, 45% white and about 4% Latinx. We intend to secure the services of a professional comic to host the events, and enlist the support of a wide array of local professionals to keep us entertained. Several venues are available on the campus for fundraising events.
