OverviewDefinitionObjectives and key results (OKRs) is a framework for tracking goals versus their measurable outcomes.
7
HistoryThe OKR framework was created by former Intel CEO Andy Grove and later adopted by Silicon Valley firms such as Google, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Uber.
8
UsageOKRs are a method to evaluate how well an individual, team, or organization performed in achieving their objectives. They are used as a basis for evaluations and for planning.
9
10
InstructionsDatesFill in column D with the Start Date, Deadline, and Check-in Dates for the evaluation period. For example if your OKRs are quarter 1 goals the start date would be January 1st, deadline March 31st, and the checkins January 31st and February 28th respectively.
11
Responsible PartyUse columns F&G (Department and Owner) to fill in the responsible departments and parties. You should use one line for each employee in the organization.
12
ObjectivesFill in column H (Objectives) observing the following rules:
13
1Objectives should be Smart (S - Specific, M - Measurable, A - Achievable, R - Realistic, T - Time-bound)
14
2Top-down approach: The first line should be a company level objective, which should then be followed by department, and finally individual level objectives
15
3There should be one objective per person in the organization
16
4By achieving the objectives the organization should be able to achieve their goals (financial or otherwise)
17
Key ResultsFill in column K (Key Result) with the targeted result for each given objective
18
Target ValueFill in column J (Target Value) with the numerical result that you are targeting with each objective
19
Current ValueColumn K (Current Value) should be updated periodically or regularly (if automated) with the current results for each defined objective
20
Monthly Check-insColumns L-Q have formulas to evaluate the your progress vs time at your check-in points
