1/12/2024 10:12:50Cloudland Connector (Hwy 157 to Ascalon)BridgeBridges - The the bridge about 10 minutes down CCT from 157 has that slick, algae coating that plagues our bridges. Not so worrisome on the flat part, but the inclined part on the south end could cause a fall. Maybe we should install some of that plaster lathing we’ve used elsewhere.Charles Mahan1/11

9/9/2023 15:00:31Shale FlatsBridgeBridges - From 5 Points to Shale Flats, 1st wooden bridge still has a broken rotted board.

3/23/2020 9:40:45Tailings RunBridgeBridge - Big problem developing just a few hundred yards north of 5 points parking lot. A mine shaft is collapsing and tailings run trail is collapsing into the shaft. Greg and I cut a tree on 3/22 that had partially collapsed into this hole. Until we know more about where the area will collapse, it will be hard to determine where to re-route the trail - or possibly eventually a bridge over the collapsed portion.

Feb 2024 - hole does not appear to be any worse. Gary proposes we stabilize the trail bed from collapse by creating a stabilizing wall with T-posts and 2x lumber. Filling the hole is not practical.

11/27/2020 12:33:30CCT2 (Hwy 157 to Ascalon)MaintenanceMaintenance - Low spot/depression on trail and filled with water, pretty muddy in pool. Need to set up a drain area on the side so pool/path so does not fill with water after rains. Close to #3 above.David Bechler11/23

11/27/2020 12:33:30CCT2 (Hwy 157 to Ascalon)MaintenanceMaintenance - Metal drain pipe diagonally crossing trail on a fairly sloped area of the trail. About 0.3-0.4 miles from Ascalon parking area. Problem here is that erosion has uncovered the pipe so it projects above the surface of the path by about 4-5”. I tested it and it is quite slippery. Mountain bikers or hikers could take a bad spill as they cross this spot if they make contact with the metal pipe. It is right near Check Point 27 and a quick easy walk from parking lot.David Bechler11/23

Two minor wet places (2nd leg of AtlAtl) Washed out rocky section of CCT just before bridge. As to CCT, couple or three culverts are in process of being washed out. In addition to the above special needs, several areas are needing routine maintenance.. IE, drains cleaned or reconstructed, berm removal, rolling grade dips installed, etc. Sent photos via text msg toto Trail Committee members.

2/10/2023 0:00:00CCT3 (Ascalon to Hwy 189)MaintenanceMaintenance - Inside the park proper on the CCT there are two culverts that are in dogleg turns. The dirt covering those tiles is eroding pretty rapidly. The dirt is Chirt and I have no idea where it came from but shirt has help up really well thus far. I cannot imagine that it was hauled in. It must exist on-sight at a few feet down. We may be able to dig some powwow pits and use some highly compatible soil that way, This need attention, and it’s relatively easy.Mike Pollock

2/10/2023 0:00:00CCT3 (Ascalon to Hwy 189)MaintenanceMaintenance - From the major junction on coal mine road (which is also the CCT) down to the bear creek bridge, there are about 5-7 large drains that need to be opened and drainage corrected. We talked about this with Brad several years ago about using a park machine but I think these drains could be re-worked by hand without too much problem. This one may allow us to get small teams working on the same issue in a centralized area - it may take 1/2 to 3/4 day and it will be a fair amount of digging. And we could also do some root work below the junction of Barkeeper/Can’t hardly - basically cutting out some of the exposed roots.

ISU - Maintenance - Trail north of Bear Creek bridge to intersection with "old coal mine road" needs drainages opened starting at the top. Drains exit trail to the SW at angles. Debris is causing CCT to act like a creek. All material pulled should come back into the trail.
