What resources are available to support me to design learning activities for my students? Where do I start in the classroom? This session is an introductory session to coding, with an opportunity for hands-on exploration of a variety of STEM ‘toys’ including the Sphero, Dash and Dot, Cubetto, Bee-bot and Edison Robot and the simple coding methods that control them. Keeping the focus on student learning, we make connections with the Australian Curriculum (not just ‘Digital Technologies’ ) and how the iPad and associated resources, can be utilised in the classroom to support coding. If you are new to the coding in the STEM space, this session will get you thinking about what’s possible in your classroom and why you should bother teaching coding! You will get the most out of this session with your own iPad, running the latest iOS11, but I can make one available to you if you email me a request, prior to the conference.
