Hi awesome people! Thanks for considering representing 350PDX!

This is the Representing 350PDX Volunteer Board. We frequently get opportunities to reach out to the community through talks to schools, sitting on panel discussions, tabling at events, etc. This is how we grow the movement, and we can't do it without you!

If you're unsure whether you feel equipped to represent 350PDX give us an email and we'll make sure you get up to speed!

Thank you! -- Chris, Volunteer & Communications Coordinator

Portland Metro People's Coalition representative350PDX is a member of the Portland Metro People's Coalition (PMPC) - https://www.portlandpeoplescoalition.org/. As a member, we participate in developing the policy platform for this group that focuses on city-level social justice issues - not just climate but housing, transportation, policing, education, public finance....it's a great space for those interested in intersectional city-level organizing. All members are expected to have 2 reps with at least 1 attending the meetings held every other month. PMPC votes on its platform and other policies. The coalition rep is responsible for: making sure issues for voting come back to 350PDX and go through discussion and endorsement as needed; sharing information to 350PDX staff and volunteers about PMPC's work.

Time commitment: 4 hr meeting every other month, plus perhaps 2 hrs/month for relaying information between 350PDX and PMPC.

One Oregon Coalition RepOne Oregon (www.oneoregon.org) is a state-wide coalition that works on promoting inclusive values especially around protecting our immigrant and Muslim community members. This is a great space for involvement from someone who understands, or is interested in learning more, about the ways in which climate justice and human rights intersect, especially around displacement and migration. The coalition meets once a month and often works on electoral issues (like defeating Measure 105 in 2018), so the time commitment may increase in election season. Much of the work involves informing 350PDX staff and volunteers about coalition work and opportunities to get involved.

Time commitment: minimum 3 hrs a month - monthly (Wed am) meeting, in person on the phone, with coalition members, plus time to communicate with 350PDX staff and volunteers about the coalition's work: you may be asked to work on coalition subcommittees but that's up to you!

Beaverton High School Panel Discussion"I put together a panel of guests each year to discuss issues in our community. I was hoping you could speak to environmental issues in Beaverton and in Oregon in general, and what 350PDX is trying to do about them. In addition to 350PDX, also attending will be our principal, a school board member, a Beaverton city council member, our homeless student liaison, a counselor at our school, and someone to speak about immigration."Tuesday Feb 19

Jobs with Justice 350PDX Representative350PDX is part of the Portland Jobs with Justice coalition. We typically have two representatives for each coalition we're a part of so you'd be one of a two person team.

Expectations - To attend one Jobs with Justice meeting per month. To report back on relevant Jobs with Justice activities, especially regarding their climate work, twice per year to a 350PDX Leadership Council.

Benefits - This role will allow you to meet and network with much of the 350PDX leadership team, as well as the interesting folks at Jobs with Justice.
