INTRODUCTION, ROLES, & RESPONSIBILITIES
2
3
This document defines the Roles & Responsibilities of those involved in the identification, assembly, and submission of proposals, and the financial and non-financial management of resulting awards related to sponsored projects at New York University Washington Square campus (NYU WSQ), including the Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) and Shanghai (NYUSH) campuses.

The Department Administrator (DA) / Department (DEPT) column refers to the unit administrator / unit, and may be performed by various individual(s), dependent on the resources within Schools. Because many units across campus provide services in different ways, it is challenging to delineate these roles in a uniform way across campus. As a result, in the OTHER column, we have added Dean, Department Chair (or equivalent), and Fiscal Officer (FO) to provide additional detail when known / applicable.

Principal Investigator (PI) is used in this matrix to indicate the individual primarily responsible for the sponsored project. Other terms used for PI may include Lead Principal Investigator, Project Director, or Project Manager. The PI has specific responsibilities as detailed in the NYU Faculty Handbook and the Principal Investigator Guide. Although often department administrators help perform these tasks, the PI has been reflected as responsible.
