City University LondonMoodle 1.9installing test installation and planning approach, pilot 2.1 Sept 2011Summer 2013ldc@city.ac.uk; kevin.russell.1@city.ac.uk

Institute of Education, University of LondonBlackboard AS8, Moodle 1.9.8Currently building Moodle 2.1. Soft launch planned for April 2012, full VLE replacement due in September 2012.April 2012ltu@ioe.ac.uk
5
Goldsmiths, University of LondonMoodle 1.9.9We are a vanilla Moodle at present so nimble, so we committed to a date. But we are also trying some 3rd party integrations on 1.9 (to support some new central policy initiatives around assessment and feedback prior to the upgrade) so that should complicate things nicely. Now working very hard on induction materials.August 15th 2011m.vogel@gold.ac.ukCurrently on 2.2 with Turnitin Basic, Mahara and BigBlueButton integrations
6
London School of Economics (LSE)Moodle 1.9Pilots running in Spring 2012 with intention to go LSE-wide over Summer 2012Summer 2012clt-support@lse.ac.uk
7
Oaklands CollegeMoodle 1.9.5+We have a test environment of Moodle 2 to see what the differences wasNo plan, as yetmark.little@oaklands.ac.uk
8
Robert Gordon UniversityMoodle 1.9.8+ Test installation in place. Evaluation starting to inform future upgrade schedule.Summer 2012 most likely.j.nicol@rgu.ac.uk1/11/11. Still planning for 2012 summer launch. But only really starting to evaluate and plan now.

Royal Holloway, University of LondonMoodle 1.9.13We are now aiming towards a Sep 2012 launch of Moodle 2.2, with Equella and Panopto integration. We do not yet have a sandbox or cloned copies of our existing 1.9.13 instances but these in-house installations are about to be delivered. We will be evaluating the platform in the RHUL context before Easter. With only one Learning Technologist here we are bringing in a consultant on a short-term contract, to cover shortfalls in both the IT and Educational Development services.

Given the very short timeframe, the engagement levels you might expect in a research-led institution with very low levels of support – our main challenge is ensuring we have a Moodle installation and a support framework with which senior managers, service providers, academics, administrators and students have access to and confidence in.

Southampton Solent UniversityMoodle 1.9.14+ (two live VLE instances)Test installation in place. Work ongoing to integrate with Quercus+ (Student Records) to take better advantage of new APIs as part of a wider SOA project. Other work to begin soon to evaluate all of our own and third-party plug-in modules.Test environment summer 2011. Staff training environment launch Jan 2012. Full live environment released April/May 2012. Migration Jan- Aug 2012. 1.9 retired Aug 2012.roger.emery@solent.ac.uk Reality check - Moodle 2 far too unstable. Not enough time for staff training for 2.1 so summer 2011 launch put back to summer 2012.

Trinity Saint DavidsMoodel 1.9Testing Moodle 2.0 on Dev server. Once fully evaluated we will feed in live student data and user detials via AD. Once this has been fully tested in a sandbox we will consider upgrading for 2011Summer 2011 or Summer 2012p.gadsdon@tsd.ac.uk

University of EssexMoodle 1.9Have evaluated Moodle 2.0 and currently updating custom blocks/modules. Will be running training for Moodle 2.0 during 11/12 Autumn term. All being well, will switch production install over to Moodle 2.0 in January/February 2012. The main issue is not technical, it is how to keep existing Moodle users happy, as the UI has changed dramatically!
Jan 2012marty@essex.ac.uk
17
University of ChichesterMoodle 1.9.10+Test install on one of the virtual server set ups, overall looks interesting and will be upgrading, but will let others take the pain and learn from it before we jump in. We also need to consider how our video streaming and student records sync will work on the 2.0 version. Testing and evaluation will continue.Summer 2012m.argyle@chi.ac.uk

University Of GreenwichWebCT 6.2Live with 2.04 since August. Inevitable teething problems with a new system. Externally hosted with ULCC. A large and steep learning curve for our system admins. User quote "Easier than move to CE6"Summer 2011webservices@gre.ac.uk
19
University of PortmsouthWebCT VistaCurrently considering our options when current Bb licence expires. Informally evaluating M2 (+Bb and Sakai) within development team, but will soon be doing small scale pilot with staff and students. Will run choosen solution in parallel with Bb in first instance (likely 2012), before switch over in 2013carolyne.jacobs@port.ac.ukHave you considered Canvas? http://www.instructure.com/

University of WinchesterMoodle 1.9.9+Initial conversion failed due to DB duplicate key error, but worked around this to have a working test version. Pilot site planned for September 2011. Currently working on customised theme on test version. York St John UniversityMoodle 2.0.5Upgraded from 1.9.x - handful of courses failed to convert correctly. Most previous customisations needed rewriting, including enrolment, theme and course overview block (my moodle). Evaluating 2.1.x but currently too many issues (submission particulary) to consider adoption just yet. Will start 2.2.x evaluation from december 2011.Summer 2011g.jenkins@yorksj.ac.uk7/11/2011How did it go?
24

28
South Devon CollegeMoodle 2.1.2+We had a full upgrade in August 2011 from 1.9 to 2.1 through a back-up and restore process. Used with 14-16, FE and HE students. There are some bugs but these are more annoyances than issues. The benefits for learning far outweigh the issues for us. New enrolment plugin means the integrated functions are the same as before but new web services means further integration developed for our eILP have been possible.August 2011rebecca.barrington@southdevon.ac.ukWe are sharing our upgrade experiences at an event if you are interested! Find out more at our commoodle site (also running Moodle 2!!) http://commoodle.southdevon.ac.uk
