2 | #1 | Save Deltopia Campaign Coverage | The Save Deltopia Campaign refers to the recent activism efforts of the broader UCSB community to avoid the implementation of a 72-hour noise ordinance spanning across Deltopia weekend. The issues at hand run deeper than our annual festival, it is about the freedom to practice tradition and involve ourselves in the decision making of local government. | 1. Documenting the history of Deltopia and student activism related to safety, community relations, and local policy. 2. Capture community perspectives through filmed interviews from fall quarter to winter quarter (this includes interviews at the arbor walkway and at the SB County Board of Supervisors meeting on 1/13/26) 3. Create a research-backed campaign for our social media and project webpage. | Lack of a tripod or sd cards during the filming of live testimony after the Deltopia Town Hall on November 12th, resulted in a loss of footage and a lack of credibility with the broader community. The lack of a microphone left our raw footage without audio, and therefore usable. | Our board has tried our best to utilize community resources to make this impactful coverage happen, however, between busy schedules, time constraints, and inaccessibility to camera equipment on hand we are finding it difficult to achieve our goals as outlined by Senate legal code. This project will span into the Winter quarter as we continue to conduct interviews, put out public opinion surveys, and conduct research. Funding for a camera and the necessary equipment will help make this project possible. For pricing and estimates on cameras and equipment please refer to the section below.

5 | 1. Camera | Link one | 7000.09 (Supplies) | $900.00 | Camera currently on sale for $800, tax was $70. Therefore we anticipate the tax to go up to $80 with the standard price $900. Free shipping | We at the project are likewise aware that alongside access to computers the AS Media Center offers video equipment rentals. Due to the scope and obligations of this project we don’t believe that this would be efficient or realistic. A large component of our job is arching activism as it happens. Take for example, our plans to interview attendees of the Save Deltopia Campaign. The first obstacle would be speaking to an equipment renter and on the AS Media Center webpage, they claim that equipment rentals occur “M-F 9-4 (aside from staffing shortages.)”. Therefore, this means that at the time our board seeks to inquire about equipment no one could be working, therefore turning us to wait for an email back from media.center@as.ucsb.edu all while activism occurs and we miss it. Furthermore, even if we do successfully get in contact with a representative, there is no promise that the equipment will be available to rent; the popularity of this equipment is referred to several times on the webpage. Even in the event we successfully get the equipment the loan period is three days with no exceptions. In many cases, professors, students, faculty, staff need to reschedule interviews which would leave us without the equipment to do so unless they reschedule in that three day period. If not, it is unknown how long it would take to get to the top of the equipment rental line once again. To further address issues that may come up with having video equipment, we would store the camera and its accessories in the AS Annex with the preapproval of Leah Bartos. Under the watch of the AS Annex, the camera would not be going home with any Living History Project member to be used for non-Living History Project goals. Additionally, in periods of time in which Living History Project members are not using the video equipment, we are happy to either contribute it to the overall Media Center rental system or loan it to students pursuing projects related to the Living History Project. If this is worrisome, we will send a Living History Project executive board member to assist and watch over the camera while it is being used by a student we are consulting for our Project.

10 | 5. Press passes | Link one | 7000.09 (Supplies) | $14.00 | One important part of journalism is the use of a press pass. These press passes are used to provide identifying information about who you are and the capacity in which you are interacting with the community. These passes would be important for us at the Living History Project as we all believe in and covet the importance of journalistic ethics. As we conduct interviews we not only want our board members to professionally represent our BCU and broader AS Government, but allow students to give informed consent before agreeing to interviews.

16 | #2 | Collaboration with Gaucho Global Commission | Our second main project that will span across the end of the Fall quarter and throughout the Winter quarter is a collaboration with the Global Gaucho Committee. Our collaboration’s goal will be to jointly document, highlight, and advocate for the experiences, challenges, and needs of international students at UCSB. | 1. Research and Testimony Collection (An in-depth time-line of international student activism history at UCSB) 2. A Long-Form Feature Story (2,000 word magazine style feature that documents the current challenges, federal changes, and campus policies affecting international students. Along with the emotional and social impact these challenges have on student well-being) 3. Social Media Deliverables (A condensed version of the research conducted for social media posts, complementary content for the LHP website, and potential inclusion of archival material and testimonies as reels) | To achieve these goals, we are once again hit with inaccessibility to camera equipment on a regular basis. We hope to not only pull our weight on existing collaborations with committees but be able to officially accept collaborations with other BCUs that we have had to hesitate on due to lack of funding.

19 | 1. Four Adobe Creative Cloud Memberships | $200.00 | UCSB deal allows an annual subscription for $50 each | Through our status as UC undergraduate students, UC Santa Barbara offers a deal in which an Abode Creative Cloud Membership costs $50 annually. However, while each account allows two devices to be logged in, the service will only allow one active user at a time. With this in mind, we are requesting $200 for the stake of purchasing four Adobe Creative Cloud Memberships using the UC Santa Barbara discount. With four accounts, each of our seven members can be logged into Creative Cloud on their personal device, this will ensure every member of the team can access anything produced by the team. Likewise, with four memberships, four members of the executive board can work on deliverables at the same time, encouraging efficient and collaborative work amongst the team. Now, I wish to both approach and put to rest the question of the AS Media Center and its available resources. While the ability to access four iMac computers with a creative cloud downloaded on them at the Media Center is useful, it doesn’t adequately address the needs of our committee. With the issue of not only rebranding, but rebuilding our social media, and publishing new research, finding a time in which one of the members of our team can visit the AS Media Center to work, but also do so during a time when the computers are available would significantly slow down our ability to work. Furthermore, part of our job is to archive activism as it happens, therefore, many times our board will have short notice on a campus protest or event and will need to edit our posts as they need to come out. To complete the tasks asked of us in both an intentional and innovative manner as outlined by AS Legal Code can only occur in a timely and efficient manner if we have our own Creative Cloud memberships to rely on.

23 | #3 | Rebranding | Since the Living History project was inactive from 2022-2025, we lack a presence on UCSB's campus. We feel as though there is a large activist community at UCSB in many different formats, so by improving our marketing, we can connect with students better. | 1. Tabling and interviewing people at the arbor walkway. 2. Sending emails and posting social media content. 3. Handing out physical content and marketing materials (zines, pins, stickers) | We feel as though our BCU's mission statement and projects will align with many of UCSB's students so we need put ourselves out there. This is a difficult task as we are starting from almost nothing.

35 | #4 | Archive Digitalization | Though a budget is not required for this project, I wanted to highlight one major example of how the Living History Project keeps busy by exploring major and minor projects simultaneously. Currently, we are combing through our paper archives and scanning them in the hopes to publish them on our webpage. Though not always specifically related to activism history, making these paper archives digitally accessible empowers our local community to educate themselves on their campus history. Here at the Living History Project we believe in the power of intellectual accessibility as a form of empowerment and activism.
