| About this Matrix | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Impact Metrics Matrix is designed as a one-stop resource for organizations of all types — from corporations to nonprofits, governments, and academic institutions — to identify, compare, and track key performance metrics (KPIs). Organizations often track business, social, and environmental outcomes in silos (or overlook critical metrics altogether). This tool brings them together in a unified framework, showing how different categories of metrics align with industry priorities. Please note that the aim of this resource is to give a comprehensive overview of the types of metrics which your organization may consider tracking, including to comply with relevant disclosure standards and guidelines. It is not intended to act as a prescriptive tool and should be adapted to your specific organisation, taking into account, for example, your organisation’s size, sector, location and goals. Please get in touch on the "Submit Feedback" tab if you wish to discuss in more detail how each metric could be applied in the context of your specific organisation. This matrix was developed by EqualReach as a free sharable resource, funded by Robert Bosch Stiftung.
| How to Use It | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 1. Explore Categories & Subcategories: Browse through the categories (e.g., DEI, Workforce Impact, Sustainability, Revenue Growth) to see the full range of metrics organizations may consider. 2. Check Metric Type: Each metric is labeled as Business (B), Social (S), or Blended (BL) — making it easy to distinguish traditional KPIs from those that capture both business and social value. 3. Filter by Industry: Tick-boxes show which industries care most about which metrics. This helps organizations quickly identify relevant measures without wading through noise. 4. Compliance & Standards: Hyperlinked references connect each metric to international standards, regulations, or best practices for credibility and benchmarking. 5. Build Your Own Framework: Use the matrix as a menu to map out what your organization should track — whether you’re designing a reporting framework, aligning to ESG standards, or building blended impact scorecards.
| Why It Matters | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| This matrix is not just a checklist. It’s a bridge between business performance and social responsibility, helping organizations report in ways that resonate with investors, governments, and communities alike. By making metrics comparable across industries, it empowers organizations to prove both efficiency and impact.
