» Summary : The 25th July 1914, Jean Jaures came in Lyon to support the candidate of the French Section of International Labor (SFIO) for legislative election. However, Jean Jaures had only talked about the causes of the war and tried to encourage the nation. Indeed, the politician was for equality, justice and peace. Moreover, he concluded his speech on the importance of the European construction, even before its creation.https://cdn-s-www.ledauphine.com/images/ACD9F93D-6334-46E2-9785-DE84970B541B/LDL_V0_12/il-est-le-pere-du-socialisme-francais-il-y-a-150-ans-naissait-jean-jaures-1508313090.jpgUnknownPortrait of Jean Jaurès in 1911

Moustafa, Emilien1ère S21914A pacifist poem written by Lucien Jacques in 1914 at the front"Le noyé qui gît là dans l’herbe de la berge,

Eliot et Loïc18913291950227REQUIEM POUR LES MORTS DE L’EUROPE by Yvan GollExtract of the text:Comme un mur gris autour de l’Europe

Mes semblables!

This poem was written in 1917 by Yvan Goll. Y Goll was French but he studied in Germany,From 1914 to 1919he lived in Switzerland and he defend the peace with Romain Rolland and Henri Guilbeaux with poems. This text was writtend in german and then translated in french because of the two nationality of the poet. This poem denounce the fact that this war was useless , he also denounce the propaganda who were describing the opposant as a monster but in reality , they were all peasant, teachers, workers.... drive by force in this war. Goll became one of the pioneer of the "surréalisme"

Luc19148211919The Friends' Ambulance Unit (FAU)The Friends' Ambulance Unit was a volunteer ambulance service created by members of the Quakers (Religious Society of Friends), but other people joined it over the time. It was founded to collaborate with countries involved in war in order to take care of the wounded soldiers or civilians, but it was also made "to demonstrate the efficacy of co-operating to build up a new world rather than fighting to destroy the old" (1939 statement).https://librarysocietyfriendsblog.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/fau-1916-section-sanitaire-anglais-14-at-dunkirk.jpg?w=300&h=177Quaker Strongroom (Library reference: TEMP MSS 881/PHOT/SSA14/1/5)Photograph of the FAU Section Sanitaire Anglaise 14, at Dunkirk, 1916
