•Students will be chosen from our five-county service area, which is made up of Union, Stanly, Cabarrus, Mecklenburg, and Rowan Counties
•All applicants must be a child of a Union Power Cooperative member or live in a home served by Union Power Cooperative and must be a high school senior in the current graduating class.
•Criteria for awarding the scholarship to an individual is based on 40% need; 30% scholastic achievement; and 30% extracurricular activities in school, civic, and community functions.

May 5, 2018Charlotte Knights STEM Scholarship•High school senior enrolled in one of the following North or South Carolina counties: Cabarrus, Catawba, Chester, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Lancaster, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Union or York County
•Must be attending an accredited institution of higher education in the fall of 2017
•Cumulative un-weighted grade point average of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale
•Minimum SAT score of 1800 (based on a 2400 scale), a 1200 SAT score (based on a 1600 scale) or 26 ACT score
•Member of at least one sports team at your high school or other extracurricular activity
•Heavy involvement in the community or multiple hours of volunteer experience
•Must declare a major within the STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math), or have demonstrated an interest in pursuing a career in these areas.
