It won’t help to see a picture but one of the problems I have been having is that when I press the first finger on the right hand down one of the other 2 right hands keys drags to close creating a clunky feeling to the mechanism. I’ve tried to pinpoint the issue myself but it has not improved. The other trouble is with the head joint cork I think. It is pretty far off of line with the cleaning rod and I can’t get it to budge. It is a Drelinger head joint. Last question, would I be able to get a loaner flute during the repair time? If so, would there be a fee? Mr. Papoutsakis may have ordered the flute for me. It was overhauled once at the Haynes shop, possibly around 2006 (?). I have been playing again for the past ten years or so, and the sound is beautiful, but the mechanism has been gradually going downhill. A few days ago something apparently gave out, and the instrument became unplayable. The F key, and associated B flat lack normal spring and no sound is produced. The defect is not visible to me. B flat plays normally with the thumb and lever. I would be very grateful to have my treasured instrument back in working order! I have developed a degree of the hand condition Dupuytrens contracture, affecting the ability to stretch my right pinky to reach the keys of the foot joint. Fortunately I can adapt to this by using key plugs in several of the open holes, which does create intonation changes.
