NoamSolomons-Wisenjs78@cam.ac.uk07906081992The Joseph SeptetDouble BassTo be arranged, contact Noam directly (njs78)Contact Noam directly for details (njs78)Double bassists will be required to perform a standard of their choosing, accompanied by drums and piano, and will be given 1-2 of our charts to sight read sections/excerpts from.Contact njs78@cam.ac.uk directly if you are interested or would like to know more. The Joseph Septet is one of the leading non-big-band jazz ensembles in Cambridge. We perform a range of contemporary jazz from compositions by band leader Noam Solomons-Wise to music by Tom Green, Joris Posthumus, Misha Mullov-Abbado, the Esbjorn Svensson Trio and beyond. The band aims to bring a unique sound to the Cambridge scene.

The music we perform is often challenging but equally rewarding and is great fun, with lots of great ensemble playing but without losing the space for each player to bring their own individual voice in both solos and ensemble parts.

The Septet performs all over Cambridge with weekly rehearsals and 3-5 performances per term, including this term a performance as part of Cambridge Jazz Festival.

If you're interested to hear us play, check out this video from our recording in June 2022 performing Tom Green's 'Tipping Point' https://youtu.be/wFz0uwjD8_4

We are looking for a keen and talented double bass player to join us for the new year. A solid feel, the ability to read charts , and the ability to elaborate on given bass lines where necessary is key. Good improvisation is a great bonus but primarily we are looking for a solid player who can hold the low end of the band together.
