Appendix 1. Aquatic Coleoptera records. Standardized label data are given for all identifiable specimens examined. CO = country, ISO (International Organization for Standardization) abbreviations (CA = Canada, MX = Mexico, US = United States; other countries spelled out with records). S/P = state or province ISO abbreviations for records from Canada, Mexico, and the United States. County is the county or other county-level equivalent (Canada and the United States only) in which records were documented; if counties were not stated on labels, they were added based on georeferenced locality descriptions if those localities were unambiguously within one county. Locality is the location description of the observation from MRPC specimens and is quoted for most physical specimen labels; unquoted descriptions were abbreviated here; brackets ([ ]) indicate comments added by the author. Location abbreviations M.R. Pintar specimens are as follows: Davis Mts. Pres. = The Nature Conservancy’s Davis Mountains Preserve; Nat. For. = National Forest; NWR = National Wildlife Refuge; S.P. = State Park; WMA = Wildlife Management Area. iNaturalist records are at county level only when users obscured the location where the photograph was taken (= [obscured location]). Latitude and longitude are accurate to the number of decimal degrees presented for specimens collected by M.R. Pintar; coordinates of physical specimens are exactly as listed on the specimen label; online observations are abbreviated to a maximum of four decimals and their accuracy may vary. Date was converted to DD Month YYYY unless unclear on labels; brackets indicate information added by the author. The Collector/observer is the person responsible for making the online observation (username or display name) or the person, group, or organization listed on the specimen label. # is the number of specimens with the given information for each record by repository, with online records treated as 1 regardless of if there were multiple specimens in the photos. Repository is the location of physical specimens or online source (INAT = iNaturalist, BG = BugGuide; plus observation numbers with hyperlinks to those observations) at the time of website visitation. Limited verbatim data as listed on labels or databases is in the dataset (Pintar 2026).
