ELM provides information on a vast array of topics, including consumer information, arts and humanities, career, occupation, and college test prep, nursing test prep, to name a few.

E-RateA program provided by the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) that provides discounts to assist public libraries and schools to obtain affordable telecommunications and internet access. E stands for education.

FTEFull-time equivalent, a measure of workload. 1.0 FTE is equivalent to a full-time worker (40 hours/week), 0.5 FTE is equivalent to a half-time worker (20 hours/week).

Federal funding for libraries administered by the Institute of Museums and Library Service (IMLS) through the Minnesota State Library. Emphasizes library integration of technology and attention to underserved targeted populations with a collaborative approach to library services.

SaaSSaaS is how SD provides Horizon to SELCO through Citrix. Software as a service (SaaS) allows users to connect to and use cloud-based apps over the Internet. Common examples are email, calendaring, and office tools (such as Microsoft Office 365). SaaS provides a complete software solution that you purchase on a pay-as-you-go basis from a cloud service provider.
