level 1Three RSC recital appearances each year. Two need to be solo on primary instrument. One could be in a small ensemble.Must pass a basic theory test for diploma - to include ear training and sight singing. Theory instruction may be at RSC or independetly, but it is not assumed to be part of the weekly lesson.Student must be in RYO, wind ensemble, marimba magic, chamber music, Suzuki class, or other RSC elective with the approval of the department head for two semestersPerformance in at least one RSC Seminar on Contemporary MusicNo requirementStudent must perform at least two pieces from department cirriculum each year (for a total of six pieces to pass the level). The two must be from different periods. Over the three year period, one piece from all four periods from the curriculum must be performed. Substitutions may be made with the approval of the department chair.Student must attend three concerts per year and write a paper on each one or complete a form. Two concerts must involve primary instrument. One must be at RSC. RSC concert must be a faculty concert, a seminar recital, or large ensemble.technical and sight-reading jury mid year each year.

Level 2Three RSC recital appearances each year. Two need to be solo on primary instrument. Theory instruction may be at RSC or independetly, but it is not assumed to be part of the weekly lesson.Student must be in RYO, wind ensemble, marimba magic, chamber music, or other RSC elective with the approval of the department head for four semesters.Performance in at least one RSC Seminar on Contemporary MusicParticipate in one competition somewhere (not necessarily RSC)student must perform at least two pieces from department cirriculum each year (for a total of six to pass the level). Must pass a theory test for diploma - to include analyzing piece with diatonic chords, training, sight-singing. Theory instruction may be at RSC or independetly, but it is not assumed to be part of the weekly lesson.Student must be in chamber music, RYO, wind ensemble, or another RSC elective with the approval of the department head for four semesters. Diploma requires primary instrument be used.Performance in at least one RSC Seminar on Contemporary MusicAttendance in one master class at RSC. Theory instruction may be at RSC or independetly, but it is not assumed to be part of the weekly lesson.Student must be in chamber music, RYO, wind ensemble, or other RSC elective with the approval of the department head for four semesters. Diploma requires primary instrument be used.Performance in at least one RSC Seminar on Contemporary MusicAttendance in one master class at RSC.
