(cornet), Bruce Thornton (clarinet), Ken Vork (trombone), Michael Lauer
(guitar & banjo), Jeffrey Engholm (bass), John Harland (piano) and
Terry Vermillion (drums). They will play a piece for jazz band and
concert band by Frank Ticheli called Playing With Fire – a showstopper
three-movement work that draws on traditional Dixieland and early jazz
blues styles. The concert opens with an energetic new work for wind band
by Iowa-based composer Zack Stanton entitled Urban Sunrise. This piece
has appealing dance rhythms and light playful melodies.

week to let loose and play music that they love. They all began playing
jazz music at a young age. The group formed in 2004 when they started
playing at the former Tavern Bar in downtown St. Cloud. In 2005 when the
Tavern closed down they moved to the Pioneer Place. The group is led by
Jeff Engholm and Muggsy Lauer.
