The Hampton Roads Chapter (HRC) of The ROCKS, Inc. will award scholarships to high school seniors for SY 2026-2027. The scholarships are available to students who have demonstrated academic achievement, leadership ability in school and community affairs, and have expressed a desire to serve as officers in the U.S. Army.
The recipients must meet minimum requirements of a 2.5 cumulative GPA, SAT/ACT scores of 900/17, respectively. The recipient must provide proof of enrollment in any accredited University or College and remain enrolled in the Senior Army ROTC program for the first and second semester of their freshman college year. Note: Individuals attending any Military Academy are not authorized to compete for the HRC scholarship.
This year we will award $1000 scholarships to students who will pursue a college degree and express an intent to serve as an officer in the US Army.

This scholarship is designed for DREAMers (immigrant students) who live in states where they effectively have no access to college – either because they face paying out-of-state tuition or because their state will simply not admit them into its universities. These are called locked-out states. North Carolina is a locked-out state. The Opportunity Scholarship Award will cover your tuition, fees, and on-campus housing and meals at one of our Partner Colleges up to a maximum of $80,000 for a bachelor’s degree. The Award is renewable each year – you simply have to meet the continuing eligibility criteria – including continuous full-time enrollment. Partner Colleges: Christian Brothers University, Delaware State University, Eastern Connecticut State University, and Trinity Washington University (Women’s College). Applicants must: live in and have graduated or will graduate from high school in a locked out-state by the end of the 2019-2020 academic year; Graduated or will graduate with a GPA of 2.8 or better on a 4.0 scale; Have taken the SAT or ACT; Came to the United States before reaching your 16th birthday; Have a current DACA or TPS authorization or can certify that you meet the DACA immigration eligibility criteria; Have significant unmet financial need; Have no criminal record.
