3 | American Chemical Society (ACS) Congressional Fellowship | The ACS Congressional Fellowship Program places two fellows each year as staff members in the office of a Senator, Representative, or Committee. As part of a broader effort administered by AAAS that places more than 30 scientists per year in Congress, the program has two main goals: to provide policy-makers with high quality information on science-related issues and to educate scientists on how government works and how science policy is made. Fellows work on the Congressional staff of their choice; placement support is provided by ACS and AAAS. Fellows typically serve as legislative assistants, advising on a range of science policy issues and interacting with constituents | https://www.acs.org/content/acs/en/policy/policyfellowships.html | 12 months | DC
4 | California Council on Science & Technology (CCST) Science Fellowship | CCST Science Fellows work alongside decision makers to evaluate complex scientific issues, interpret data, while tackling the responsibilities of full-time staffers. These talented individuals gain valuable experience and training in public service. In turn, state decision makers are given access to science-savvy staff members, helping them to craft fact-based policies. | https://ccst.us/ccst-science-fellows-program/ | 12 months | Sacramento, CA
5 | Society for Neuroscience (SfN) Early Career Policy Ambassadors Program | Our Early Career Policy Ambassadors (ECPA) Program is a 10-month program that allows early career scientists to interact with leading neuroscience advocates and meet their policymakers. Ambassadors gain the necessary skills to advocate for science and to encourage those in their personal networks to join the conversation. The program kicks off at our annual Capitol Hill Day, where ambassadors engage with their members of Congress about the value of strong national investment in scientific research, including NIH and NSF. Over the course of the year, ambassadors engage in at least two additional advocacy-related activities at their home institution. | https://www.sfn.org/advocacy/us-advocacy-programs/early-career-policy-ambassadors | 10 months

The Fellowship term begins with a required two-week orientation in Washington for all Science and Technology Policy Fellows, organized by the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Following the orientation, Congressional fellows interview with Congressional and committee offices to find a placement where they wish to serve. During their term, Fellows are expected to work full-time at their Fellowship assignment. | https://www.aip.org/policy/fellowships/congressional | 12 months | DC
