22	17	Cultivating what matters	• It's a cute nod to our surroundings, but CI doesn't have any agriculture-related studies. If we can find a synonym to "cultivate" that better reflects our culture, it would be a better representation of CI. • The agricultural reference pays tribute to our location and harnesses it as a metaphor for our strengths. It’s also a reference to Gloria Anzaldúa’s Borderlands/La Frontera and her discussion of our hybridity and resilience and our moral imperative to undertake socially grounded work that helps transform communities. • Love this. Everything - socioeconomic outcomes, work force readiness, belonging - comes from this • I like the slogan’s flexibility and adaptability. What matters will depend on who the student is and what matters to them, so it is flexible. It can refer to social justice, community, business, science, anything.	4
