PURPOSE: To confirm that the horse demonstrates correct basics, and in addition to the requirements of Training Level, has developed improved balance, lateral suppleness and throughness, as well as the thrust to perform lengthenings of stride. The horse should be on the bit.

Enter working trot

Halt, salute

Proceed working trot
Regularity and quality of trot; willing, clear transitions; straightness; attentiveness; immobility (min. 3 seconds)6.56.5straight in body but head tilted throughout. Fairly energetic both into and out of halt. frame needs to be rounder

EX
Track left
Half circle left 10m,
returning to track at H
Bend and balance in turns; moderate lengthening of frame and stride; regularity and quality of trot; willing, clear transitions; straightness; consistent tempo66loop is large, tempo slows, needs to be more fluid- ride like a 1/2 circle left then allow horse to straighten and then ask for right flexion.
13
3BXHalf circle right 10m,
returning to track at M
Regulatory and quality of trot;
shape and size of half circle;
bend; balance; straightness
6212better energy and size but horse is flexed to the left through the corners and the loop. rider's leg is a little in front of her which impacts the ability to ask horse to bend through the body and leave only the rein aids

Before C

C
Circle left 20m in rising trot,
allowing the horse to stretch
forward and downward while
maintaining contact
Shorten the reins
Working trot
Forward and downward stretch
over the back into a light contact,
maintaining balance and quality
of trot; bend; shape and sizeof
circle; willing,clear transitions
5.55.5the purpose of this movt is to show that horse follows the rider's hand as the reins are lengthened and the horse needs to stretch longer over the back. rider did not lengthen reins so horse has no where to stretch

P
Change rein, lengthen stride in trot
Working trot
Moderate Lengthening of frame
and stride; regularity and quality
of trot; straightness;consistent
tempo; willing, clear transitions;
bend and balance in corner
5.55.5this should be a lengthening- horse should cover more ground- there is no change in the ground cover or the frame, horse is flexde left the entire diagonal. this movt should demonstrate that the horse has increased thrusting and power
16
6AMedium walkWilling, clear transition; regularity,
quality, overtrack; bend and balance
in corner; straightness
6.5213fluid trans and marching walk but horse is not round over the back
17
7VR

R
Change rein, free walk
Medium walk
Regulatory and quality of walks; reach
and ground cover with overtrack of
free walk allowing complete freedom
to stretch the neck forward and
downward; straightness; willing,
clear transitions
6212some good steps but rider is slow to push the longer rein forward and quick to pick them up. horse shows fair energy but the FW is defined by overtrack so steps need to be longer

8M

C
Working trot
Working canter left lead
Willing,clear transitions;
regularity and quality of gaits;
bend and balance in corners
6212prompt transitions but trot trans is early. horse is twisted in the neck not bending and is strung out with a dropped back in the transitions rather than coming through the back
19
9ECircle left 15m
Regularity and quality center;
shape and size of circle; bend;
balance
66steady tempo with fair energy. circle is not like 18m than 15m- should only go to the quarterline. canter is too strung out and neck is twisted to the inside

X
Change rein

Working trot
Willing, clear transition; regularity
and quality of gaits;straightness;
bend and balance in corner
66nicely balanced transition but early, horse in looking to the left the full diagonal line, frame is not round
21
11CWorking canter right leadWilling, clear transition;
regularity and quality of canter;
bend and balance in corner
6212obedient but hollow and counterbent
22
12BCircle right 15m
Regularity and quality center;
shape and size of circle; bend;
balance
5.55.5horse in looking left throughout and size of circle is too large and shape is more oval than round
23
13AWorking trotWilling, clear transition; regularity
and quality of trot; straightness;
bend and balance in corner
66early and falls out of canter, rider needs to better prepare with 1/2 halts to help horse balance and be ready. in this trans, the horse loses balance and runs, needs straightness-still flexed left
24
14KR

R
Change rein, lengthen stride in trot
Working trot
Moderate Lengthening of frame
and stride; regularity and quality
of trot; straightness;consistent
tempo; willing, clear transitions;
bend and balance in corners
66minimal but attempt shown. horse is hollow and gets faster rather than covering more ground with true power from hq

G
Half circle left 10m
Down centerline
Halt, salute
Bend and balance in half circle;
regularity and quality of trot;
willing, clear transition;
straightness; attentiveness;
immobility (min. 3 seconds)
66overshot the center line and looking left down the CL. Halt needs to be held for a full 3 seconds- rider is too quick to walk out of it. halt could be more prompt and straight which is made more difficult as rider tries to straighten horse after missing the CL
26
Leave arena in free walk. Exit at A.

1GAITS (Freedom and regularity)717correct gaits, expressive canter
30
2IMPULSION (Desire to move forward; elasticity of the steps; suppleness of the back; engagement of the hindquarters)6.5213nicely forward but back is frequently hollow
31
3SUBMISSION (Willing cooperation; harmony; attention and confidence; acceptance of bit and aids; straightness; lightness of forehand and ease of movements)6212many issues with straightness and connection
32
4RIDER’S POSITION AND SEAT (Alignment; posture; stability; weight placement; following mechanics of the gaits)717nicely balanced rider, good seat
33
5RIDER’S CORRECT AND EFFECTIVE USE OF AIDS (Clarity; subtlety; independence; accuracy of test)5.515.5many inaccuracies of the test, horse not correctly on the aids
34
Nicely matched pair with the potential fo higher scores once rider is more secure in the demands of the level. See the purpose on the top of the test- horse should be on the bit and demonstrating sufficient suppleness for 10m trot circles and 15m canter circles plus the necessary push and power for lengthenings of trot. While the frame might be acceptable in Training Level as the horse is clearly going freely forward, at First level the degree of throughness needed is not shown. No real length shown in trot lengthenings or in free walk. No stretch attempted in stretch circle. This capable rider needs to be encouraged to ride with more correct aids and expect more from this expressive horse. Good Luck!!
