Students are required to demonstrate intermediate-level proficiency in a language other than English. Intermediate-level proficiency is demonstrated by successful completion of a 4th-semester language course (FL 1050 or 1060 or ASL 3374). A higher-level language course that requires one of these courses as a prerequisite may also be used to fulfill the requirement. Placement exams are required for several languages. Should a studentplace higher than the beginning level, any lower level requirements listed on the four year guide will need to be replaced with a free elective if needed for total hours for the degree.
