68	Science Inquiry		8	It is possible to take up to 10 hours of Science Inquiry courses, depending upon your choice of science. 8 hours is the minimum requirement. If you take a 10 hour science sequence, you will have 2 fewer Free Elective hours needed to reach 120 total hours.

Those should be met within the courses students choose for the SCL, HUM or ICL course requirements. The FAD (Foundations of American Democracy) course can be taken as part of General Education coursework, Major coursework or Minor coursework.

74	The [FAD] requirement may be fulfilled with General Education Courses, Major Courses or Minor Courses. Which one is best for a student will depend upon their chosen major/minor. 80	Major GPA Information	Major GPA calculation will include all courses taken in the major discipline, plus any other courses under major requirements.
81	*Foreign Language Requirement Information	Foreign language classes can be taken in summer semesters. Students are required to demonstrate intermediate-level proficiency in a language other than English. Intermediate-level proficiency is demonstrated by successful completion of a 4th-semester language course (FL 1050 or 1060 or ASL 3374). A higher-level language course that requires one of these courses as a prerequisite may also be used to fulfill the requirement. Placement exams are required for several languages. Should a studentplace higher than the beginning level, any lower level requirements listed on the four year guide will need to be replaced with a free elective if needed for total hours for the degree. Please consult with your advisor for more information. 82	Additional Notes:	• No more than six hours of ENG 4900 may be applied to the Rhetoric and Technical Writing major. • 4000-level courses require Writing in the Discipline (WID) or instructor’s permission. • Courses cannot double count for more than one category in the major, including the concentration. • Students may double count no more than six (6) hours between the Film Studies minor and an English major.
