1 | ANTI-RACISM RESOURCES - HAWAIʻI EDITION
2 | Aloha Everyone, I know that there are SO many resources/ guides being circulated around social media right now, but I haven't seen one yet that is rooted both in practicing/learning about anti-racism nation-wide AND in Hawaiʻi. We do not talk enough about being anti-racist in Hawaiʻi, especially regarding our black community. I hope this guide opens doors for you to actively start thinking about anti-racism in our community and how we can be better non-Black allies. It is our kuleana to keep learning more. The resources here, that have been collected via a variety of organizations/guides/independent research, are both broad to the nation and Hawai`i-centric to learning more about anti-racism, our history, and deeper connections between the two. ALL RESOURCES HERE ARE EITHER PDFs OR ONLINE ARTICLES. Other resources guides are attached well. If you find an article or resource you think would be a great addition, please email mgee@middlebury.edu. Mahalo! | Last Update: 02/05/2021 New articles and resources are included for Black History Month | Topics Covered: Black History Month, Hawaiʻi - A Utopic Racial Paradise?, Settler Colonialism in the Pacific, Black Hawaiʻi & Black History in Hawaiʻi, Connection Between Black and Hawaiian Thought, Examining the Language Usage of Pōpolo, Pāʻele, Op-Eds and Personal Stories in Hawaiʻi, Pathways of Support in Hawaiʻi (Black Organizations in Hawaiʻi, Black-Owned Businesses in Hawaiʻi (Mahalo Bianca Wagner!), Donating - Black Organizations/Fundraisers & Bail Fund in Hawaiʻi, Upcoming Protests/Sign-Waving/Paddle Outs), Other Black Hawaiʻi Resources & Guides, National Anti-Racism Resources (Books, Articles, Podcasts, Films, TV, Other National Resource Guides, Donation Sites, Petitions, etc.)
