THIS IS A DRAFT PORTFOLIO AND IS OUT OF DATE. MY POSITIONS CAN CHANGE AT ANY TIME. It is rough as I realised I need to convert it to a unit basis (more on that below) before I tidy it up. Nevertheless you are welcome
2
to copy it for your own use. Most of it is automated, and so adding a position to the source data sheet will result in the other sheets drawing on that data to update tables.
3
All purchases need to be accompanied by a corresponding reduction in cash. So you need to add say $500 in assets (the shares), but simultaneously have an entry for -$500 cash, reflecting the turning of cash into shares.
4
This spreadsheet is OK, BUT it is not suitable if you are adding cash over time. For example if I add $5k cash, that takes my contributed capital from $10k to $15k, and this makes it look like I've had a 50% returns.
5
You can input your own numbers, and start with however much cash you want, but to add more capital later it would be easier to adjust this to a 'unit' basis - e.g. instead of $10000, make 10000 units with $1 assets each. That way if you add $5k, you can just add 5000 units - now you have 15000 units with a NAV of $1 per unit, which allows easier comparison of NAV per unit to the index.
