| Disclaimer: This is NOT a tier list. This is a list of Rare Recruit units and how much competitive play they saw over the years and in today's day and age. The notes follow the idea that while a unit seems strong on paper, has the unit actually been put into practice? The list is coming from someone who has gone through thousands of videos from both the Global and Japanese versions as well as from the beginning of the game till now. The units will be listed from each batch with the top unit seeing the most amount of play and the bottom unit with the least amount of play. Certain Support Abilities will be considered (mainly the non-stat boosting ones)

| The Originals | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/73 | Princess Vivi | Vivi | #REF! | OU | Today, Vivi does not see any play as a sub due to her weak special not impacting the fight enough. Nowadays, there are many, many options for Orb Manipulation and Vivi's special leaves it all to luck for matching orbs, which is something you don't want for consistent runs. As a Support unit, Vivi is widely used due to her ability to consistently give a matching orb which is crucial in some fights when the team is focused on bringing utility units and other damage booster and they have to trade off consistent Orb Manipulators for that. Due to Vivi's simple, yet highly effective Support effect, she has seen play across pretty much every team. I'd also like to note that Vivi's Support Ability has no limitations as she can Support any character. Great flexibility! | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. Therefore, combining this with Laboon and very specific team compositions, the team was unkillable and thus spawned the term Zombie teams. Eventually, the introduction of the Rocketman ship and the AutoHeal socket started to change and evolve the Zombie team strategy and this meant Vivi was no longer necessary for the passive healing to stay in the HP range. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). 13 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/77 | Red-Haired Shanks | RR OG Shanks | #REF! | NU | Today, Shanks does not see any play due to his weak special unable to impact fights nowadays. A special that deals 15x his ATK to all enemies will hardly make a dent in fights nowadays. | Back then, Shanks was the premier captain when OPTC was just starting out alongside RR OG Ace and Story Arlong. Before the real Legend Whitebeard first came out, these three were heralded as "Legends" back in the day. A 2.5x ATK Captain Multiplier was very rare and was the highest back in the day so Shanks naturally grabbed many players' attention. These three held their dominance over the early metagame until the V2 Strawhat batch came out with very strong contenders for captains such as G3 Luffy, Towel Nami and Mr. Prince. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). 14 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/75 | Portgas D. Ace Flame Mirror | RR OG Ace | #REF! | NU | Today Ace does not see any play due to his weak special unable to impact fights nowadays. A special that deals 25x his ATK to all enemies will hardly make a dent in fights nowadays. | Back then, Ace was the premier captain when OPTC was just starting out alongside RR OG Shanks and Story Arlong. Before the real Legend Whitebeard first came out, these three were heralded as "Legends" back in the day. A 2.5x ATK Captain Multiplier was very rare and was the highest back in the day so Ace naturally grabbed many players' attention. These three held their dominance over the early metagame until the V2 Strawhat Batch came out with very strong contenders for captains such as G3 Luffy, Towel Nami and Mr. Prince. Ace lost a bit of his edge since G3's captain multiplier was highly praised for it's insane damage output. However, Ace continued to see some amount of play in facing the STR typed Raid Bosses, particularly Raid Monster Chopper and Raid Blackbeard. His QCK team would be capable of handling these "difficult" Raid Bosses but Ace did struggle against the other types of Raid Bosses. By the time Raid Kuma was released, the 3rd STR type Raid Boss, Ace was no longer a prominent captain due to the increase in stronger QCK captains such as Thatch, Raid Enel, Legend Boa and Legend Marco. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. 16 | Baroque Works | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/210 | Nico Robin | RR Robin V1 | #REF! | NU | Today RR Robin V1 does not see play in INT based teams due to a number of better ATK Boosters such as Coliseum Sicilian and Legend Shanks V2. Also, Robin's low stats also affects her usage when the competition has at least 300 more ATK than her. | Back then, Robin was an incredible sub in mono-INT teams since her special greatly boosted the team's power. At some point, INT teams were the best teams around since they had a solid captain with Towel Nami and a 2x ATK Booster with Robin. Robin was a near staple on those teams back then and this team was able to terrorize the likes of Raid Garp who otherwise gave many other teams trouble. Eventually INT teams started to fall in popularity when non-PSY fights became harder and harder. Also, G3 Luffy was able to compete on the same level with INT teams but that team did lack any units who could provide the necessary boosts unlike INT teams who had Towel Nami's Orb Manipulation and Robin's ATK Boost. Everything changed when Raid Doflamingo was released as this unit alone boosted G3 Luffy's power level to unmatched heights and INT teams were not longer able to keep up with this. Also, the release of Legend Rayleigh shifted players away from the Towel Nami captains but Robin still managed to stay on the team for her strong ATK Boost. This led Robin to shine in Rayleigh teams against the new PSY Raid Boss, Raid Heracles'n. However, this was the last Raid Boss that Robin shined against. By the time the next PSY Raid Boss came, Raid Boa, there were multiple Legends released and a variety of teams were starting to develop. This meant that the Rayleigh team that Robin was great in started to evolve and change around subs for better options in order to take advantage of Rayleigh's Rainbow Captain Ability. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. 18 | Straw Hats V2 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/217 | Monkey D. Luffy, Gear Third | G3 Luffy | #REF! | NU | Today G3 Luffy does not see play due to a very large number of more viable captains in both the F2P and Legend department. G3 Luffy does struggle heavily against heavy mob stages as his teams are only capable of clearing 3 enemies a turn, which means G3 Luffy teams will take damage from the remaining surviving enemies. Pairing this up with a lack of a HP boost means that G3 Luffy teams are not stable enough to see play in fights today. Also, the rise in different barriers means that always hitting Perfects will not always result in a KO'd enemy. In regards to his special, it is very undesired as it does not impact the fight or the team in any way. Specials that only do small amounts of AoE damage are not favored in teambuilding. This means that G3 Luffy teams have to heavily rely on their 4 subs in order to fill all the necessary roles in fights, including the damage boosts, orb manipulation and buff/debuff utility. With fights becoming more and more intricate and players favoring more popular leads, G3 Luffy teams have fallen off the charts and will likely never see popular play again. | Back then, G3 Luffy was indeed the top, premier captain for players. G3 Luffy was regarded as a "Legend" in many players' eyes and even competed against the first Legend released, Whitebeard, for the captain role. Players who were lucky enough to pull G3 Luffy on his debut Sugofest were able to easily demolish the hardest piece of content at the time, Raid Mihawk. G3 Luffy continued to thrive as a top tier captain for a long period of time, capable of handling many early Raid Bosses and some Training Forests. The most infamous case was G3 Luffy teams being able to take down the extremely difficult Whitebeard Training Forest. The G3 Luffy team consisted of double G3 Luffy captain, Raid Doflamingo, FN Alvida, FN DEX Perona, and Golden Pound Usopp. This provided the team a lot of survivability with the 3 defensive subs and the offensive side was carried by the G3 Luffy's captain ability and Raid Doflamingo's extremely strong Orb Boost. Eventually more interesting Legends were released and took some popularity from G3 Luffy. This included Strong World Ace and his "Dream Team", Log Luffy, and more. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. Therefore, combining this with Laboon and very specific team compositions, the team was
| http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/223 | Usopp, Impact | Impact Dial Usopp | #REF! | NU | Today Impact Dial Usopp does not see play due to his low stats and that he faces extremely tough competition from Legend Kuzan V2. The only PSY-focused teams today are Kuzan V2 teams and since the Kuzan V2 captains already provide a full board of matching orbs as well as a stronger ATK Boost, Impact Dial Usopp's usage has greatly fallen. Whitebeard/Marco teams do not consider Impact Dial Usopp due to a number of other ATK Boosters who can cover the other types as well such as Legend Shanks V2 and TM Big Mom. | Back then, Impact Dial Usopp saw a lot of play as a near staple sub in Strong World Shanks teams. Strong World Shanks was the premier captain for PSY teams and Impact Dial Usopp provided a very strong 2x ATK Boost for PSY characters. There wasn't much competition for this role in the team besides the occasional Story Enel who had better stats but a weaker ATK Boost. Impact Dial Usopp saw a good amount of play in Legend Sengoku teams since he was able to boost the Sengoku captains as well. While Sengoku did already have an ATK Boost with their special, Sengoku's special gives a rather weak ATK Boost of 1.5x and some teams opted for Impact Dial Usopp's stronger ATK Boost. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. Therefore, combining this with Laboon and very specific team compositions, the team was
| http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/218 | Roronoa Zoro, Streaming Wolf Swords | Streaming Wolf Sword Zoro | #REF! | NU | Today Streaming Wolf Sword Zoro does not see much play due to his extremely niche special. There is ever hardly a need for a damage negation special against a STR boss. There are a large number of damage reducers and even units who will let you survive a large damage nuke such as Legend Robin or Bartolomeo 6+. | Back then, Streaming Wolf Sword Zoro saw a small amount of play as a sub for actually needing to negate a hit from a STR boss such as Raid Monster Chopper. However, Streaming Wolf Sword Zoro was infamous for being a viable captain in taking on some of the Raid Bosses and Training Forests when paired with a friend captain whose captain ability provided passive healing such as Vivi. I'm not sure if this counted as a "Zombie" team but it was an early iteration of the concept. A carefully crafted team with Zoro and a healer friend captain allowed the team to tank a lot of hits and slowly whittle away at the opponent. Eventually the "1 HP" type Zombie teams managed to survive over time but this "Maintain full HP" type of team could not due to the enemies hitting harder and thus made it more difficult to maintain the Zoro's Captain Ability. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. Therefore, combining this with Laboon and very specific team compositions, the team was
| http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/221 | Nami, Happiness Punch | Towel Nami | #REF! | NU | Today Towel Nami does not see play due to her very lackluster special. Towel Nami's special is very specific in only changing PSY orbs into INT orbs. Nowadays, there are a multitude of Orb Manipulators for INT orbs including the ever popular Whitebeard/Marco, Shanks V2 and Sakazuki V2. Due to the lack of significant impact in fights today, Towel Nami is never used in teams. | Back then, Towel Nami was one of the strongest captains to run, competing with the other top captains of G3 Luffy, Mr. Prince, RR OG Shanks, RR OG Ace, and Story Arlong/Raid Mihawk. With Towel Nami as the captain and RR Robin V1 as a strong ATK Boosting sub, INT teams got a huge boost in power that allowed them to handle many different content. At the time, INT teams were considered the strongest type teams since they did neutral damage to all types and did double the damage against PSY enemies. Towel Nami teams also had access to the famous Brain Point Chopper/Story Broggy + Buggy/INT Bazooka Ensign combo that allowed the team to get guaranteed matching orbs. Also, Towel Nami's special ensured that the team would not have badly matching orbs during the burst turn. This combination of Orb Manipulation and ATK Boost paired with a solid 2.5x ATK Captain allowed the team to flourish for a good amount of time. The team was even capable of clearing Raid Garp when other teams struggled to output that much damage since Raid Garp introduced the new mechanic of Debuff Protection that meant that Golden Pound Usopp was not a staple on teams anymore. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. Therefore, combining this with Laboon and very specific team compositions, the team was
| http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/219 | Roronoa Zoro, Lion's Song | Lion Song Zoro | #REF! | NU | Today Lion Song Zoro does not see any play due to his weak special unable to impact fights nowadays. A special that deals 25x his ATK to one enemy will hardly make a dent in fights nowadays. | People theorized his use in STR Sakazuki teams with his new Limit Break but never actually saw play there. Today, has no spots in teams due to his poor special. Zombie | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. Therefore, combining this with Laboon and very specific team compositions, the team was
| http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/225 | Mr. Prince, Veau Shot | QCK Mr. Prince | #REF! | NU | Today Ace does not see any play due to his weak special unable to impact fights nowadays. A special that deals 20x his ATK to one enemy will hardly make a dent in fights nowadays. | Captain vs Raid Doffy | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. Therefore, combining this with Laboon and very specific team compositions, the team was
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Whitebeard Pirates Batch 1 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/251 | Marco the Phoenix | PSY Marco | #REF! | RU | Today PSY Marco sees very rare amounts of play due to the large number of other Healer options that provide more benefits to the team than simply healing. This includes mainly Legend Marco but also units such as Legend Shirahoshi, Corazon 6+, LRR Bonney, Legend Whitebeard/Marco, Raid Bartolomeo, Valentine Shirahoshi, Magellan 6+, and Chiffon. Unfortunately, much of the teams PSY Marco would fit can also fit in Legend Marco. This stiff competition against his Legend counterpart puts PSY Marco in a difficult situation when PSY Marco's full heal vs. Legend Marco's 66,500 HP heal are practically the same for many teams. As a result, Legend Marco edges out over PSY Marco in preferences due to his 2 turn Orb Boost and his set amount healed. The latter is extremely important as this is the main difference in the Marco's usage in Enel 6+ teams as PSY Marco does not contribute anything to Enel 6+'s Overheal meter but Legend Marco contributes a significant amount. PSY Marco has recently made some notable appearances in fights such as Raid Big Mom. That particular fight introduced the debuff mechanic of Heal Reduction where all forms of healing are reduced a certain amount. This includes sources such as AutoHeal sockets, RCV orb consumption and healing specials such as Legend Marco's. However, PSY Marco's special states that it will heal you to full HP so this special is one way to get around this debuff and has caused PSY Marco to make some appearances in certains teams vs. Raid Big Mom. To be updated with Big Mom V2 team usage. | Doffy Slashers, Shiryu, Blackbeard | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. Therefore, combining this with Laboon and very specific team compositions, the team was
| http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/255 | Flower Sword Vista | Vista | #REF! | RU | Today Vista sees very rare amounts of play primarily for his Fixed Damage. Given his low Cooldown, Vista has been used mainly for speed running purposes against stages with low HP, high defense rooms or for Turtle farming but fails to make appearances against difficult fights. This is not to mention that there are number of AoE Fixed Damager dealers now, namely TM Enel, that compete for this "Fixed Damage Dealer" role. 5000 Fixed Damage won't even make a scratch when the boss's HP is in the millions. | INT teams Towel Nami, captain(?) | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. Therefore, combining this with Laboon and very specific team compositions, the team was
| http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/253 | Diamond Jozu | Jozu | #REF! | NU | Today Jozu doesnt see much play due to his extremely niche special. There hasn't really been a time where players needed a 100% Damage Reducer against a DEX boss. Jozu also competes against the number of Damage Reducers out there including Raid Bartolomeo and Legend Robin and thus fails to catch the attention of players. | A crucial unit to defend against Raid Doflamingo back in the day. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. Therefore, combining this with Laboon and very specific team compositions, the team was
| http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/259 | Blamenco the Mallet | Blamenco | #REF! | NU | Today Blamenco does not see play due to his rather lackluster special. He only provides very specific Orb Manipulation and there are a number of other STR orb manipulators such as Legend Lucy's Captain Ability and TM Ace's special. Blamenco's special simply does not offer enough to the team's strength. | was used frequently against Stage 4 in Raid Sabo in STR based teams | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. Therefore, combining this with Laboon and very specific team compositions, the team was
| http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/257 | Flintlock Pistols Izo | Izo | #REF! | NU | Today Izo does not see play due to his rather lackluster special. He only provides very specific Orb Manipulation and there are a number of other DEX orb manipulators such as Legend Nami's Captain Ability and both Raid Cracker and Boa Sandersonia's special. Izo's special simply does not offer enough to the team's strength. | SW Ace | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. Therefore, combining this with Laboon and very specific team compositions, the team was

| Supernovas Batch 1 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/308 | Trafalgar Law, Room | DEX Law | #REF! | NU | Today DEX Law does not see play due to his special not offering enough strength to teams. Teams have a difficult time capitalizing on a board of DEX, RCV and TND orbs. This was somewhat fixed with DEX Law's Limit Break with providing him with the Sailor Abilities of making RCV and TND beneficial for DEX units but overall teams would much rather prefer to use units such as Raid Cracker for DEX-including teams as DEX Law's Orb Manipulation is only restricted for DEX units. | captain, Law + Apoo | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. Therefore, combining this with Laboon and very specific team compositions, the team was
| http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/312 | Massacre Soldier Killer | Killer | #REF! | NU | Today Killer does not see play due to his unique but niche special. There are very few teams who can utilize being at 1 HP and even then, there are a number of more preferred Health Reducers such as Log Ace and Log Vivi for Whitebeard V2 teams. The Fixed Damage part of his special is near negligible. At max Limit Break, his special will deal 154,900 damage which won't make a dent in the boss's HP when they have health in the millions. Teams would rather use untis such as TM Enel for large Fixed Damage. | Was a viable captain for certain Rankings that required you to deal [Number] amount of damage X amount of times during a run. 3D2Y Robin Croc | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. Therefore, combining this with Laboon and very specific team compositions, the team was
| http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/314 | Mad Monk Urouge | PSY Urouge | #REF! | NU | Today PSY Urouge does not see play simply due to his weak ATK boost. 1.5x ATK Boosts are not preferred for teams nowadays and PSY Urouge faces competition from even F2P units who provide a stronger ATK Boost + additional benefits. These units include Raid Aokiji, Coliseum Nekomamushi, and TM Weevil. | Was often used as a beatstick in PSY and Striker teams against Raid Aokiji. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. Therefore, combining this with Laboon and very specific team compositions, the team was
| http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/316 | Bepo the Martial Artist | STR Bepo | #REF! | NU | Today STR Bepo does not see play due to his rather lackluster special. He only provides very specific Orb Manipulation and there are a number of other STR orb manipulators such as Legend Lucy's Captain Ability and TM Ace and Neo Raid Bellamy's special. STR Bepo's special simply does not offer enough to the team's strength. | Saw a very fringe use in STR Sakazuki teams for guaranteed orb manipulation | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. Therefore, combining this with Laboon and very specific team compositions, the team was
| http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/310 | Basil Hawkins the Magician | INT Hawkins | #REF! | NU | Today INT Hawkins does not see play due to his rather lackluster special. Both of INT Hawkins' special components are outperformed by a number of units, even F2P ones. The Health Cut and Damage Reduction don't offer enough strength to the team's overall strength and players opt to use other options such as Coliseum Don Chinjao, Raid Bartolomeo, and even FN Hawkins. A 10% Health Cut and 50% Damage Reduction isn't enough to warrant granting this unit a team slot. | Raid Garp | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. Therefore, combining this with Laboon and very specific team compositions, the team was

| Supernovas Batch 2 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/357 | Captain Kid | Kid | #REF! | NU | Today Kid does not see play due to his special making very little impact in fights. At max level, his special will deal 11,682 damage which is quite laughable really. While the low Cooldown is nice, giving up a team slot just for a special that gives himelf a STR orb is highly unfavorable. | Back in the day, was the premier Striker captain that people would debate who would be a better Striker captain, this Kid or INT Vergo. Kid was often used against Raid Doflamingo and Raid Duval simply because of type and stats and had the occasional use in speed run teams since his special maxes at 6 turns. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. Therefore, combining this with Laboon and very specific team compositions, the team was
| http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/365 | Capone Gang Bege | Bege | #REF! | NU | Today Bege does not see play due to his rather lackluster special. He only provides very specific Orb Manipulation and there are a number of other QCK orb manipulators such as Legend Lucy and Legend Kuzan V2's Captain Ability and RR QCK Rayleigh and Legend Kuzan V2's special. Bege's special simply does not offer enough to the team's strength. | Back in the day, was often used against Raid Monster Chopper and Raid Blackbeard simply due to the lack of QCK units back then and he was one of the better ones. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. Therefore, combining this with Laboon and very specific team compositions, the team was
| http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/359 | Roar of the Sea Scratchmen Apoo | DEX Apoo | #REF! | NU | Today DEX Apoo does not see play due to his rather lackluster special. He only provides very specific Orb Manipulation and there are a number of other DEX orb manipulators such as Raid Cracker, Boa Sandersonia and even certain Sailor Abilities that handle RCV/TND orbs for DEX characters. DEX Apoo's special simply does not offer enough to the team's strength. | Often paired with RR DEX Law for a full board of DEX orbs. Law got a Limit Break which did not require Apoo anymore. Also, was a solid captain in farming QCK Turtles during Turtle time due to his immediate 3x ATK to DEX characters. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. Therefore, combining this with Laboon and very specific team compositions, the team was
| http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/363 | Big Eater Jewelry Bonney | PSY Bonney | #REF! | NU | Today PSY Bonney does not see play due to her unique but niche special. There are very few teams capable of capitalizing on the amount of RCV orbs consumed in a turn. The most notable team that benefits from this would be Enel 6+ teams since Enel 6+'s captain increases the rate of RCV orbs appearing. However PSY Bonney is not used in these teams since Enel 6+ teams would rather run the large healers instead as they charge his Overheal meter a lot faster and more consistently. This includes units such as Legend Marco, Legend Shirahoshi, Corazon 6+ and LRR Bonney. | When Legend Enel was released, people theorized her use in those teams but never saw actual play because people opted for a big healer instead of increased RCV. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). 41 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/361 | Red Flag X-Drake | INT X-Drake | #REF! | NU | Today INT X-Drake does not see play due to his incredibly niche special. There are very few times when you need to use a Resilience buff to survive a large hit (including fights vs. Coliseum Pedro and Coliseum Oven) but even then in those fights, players have opted to use other alternatives including Bartolomeo 6+, Legend Robin, and Raid Bartolomeo in order to survive. INT X-Drake's high Cooldown and Health condition for his special really sets him back compared to the competition.

| Seven Warlords Batch | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/414 | Gecko Moria Warlord of the Sea | RR INT Moria | #REF! | NU | Today RR INT Moria does not see play due to his rather lackluster special. He only provides very specific Orb Manipulation and there are a number of other INT orb manipulators such as Legend Sakazuki V2's Captain Ability and Legend Shanks V2 and Neo Raid Akainu's special. RR INT Moria's special simply does not offer enough to the team's strength. | Similar to Apoo, was used as captains against PSY Turtles during Turtle time back in the day with his immediate 3x ATK boost to INT characters. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. Therefore, combining this with Laboon and very specific team compositions, the team was
| http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/412 | Bartholomew Kuma Warlord of the Sea | STR Kuma | #REF! | NU | Today STR Kuma does not see play due to his rather lackluster special. He only provides 3 STR orbs with his special and is ousted by competition from even F2P units such as TM Ace and Raid Akainu (who both provide strong benefits in addition to the Orb Manipulation). The Fixed Damage is not worth considering unless it's used against low HP, high defense fodder stages. | Was used sometimes against Stage 4 Raid Mihawk for the fixed damage and against Raid Duval with double Raid Blackbeard captains due to his high HP. Nowadays Kuma does not see play to better options to get STR orbs such as TM Ace. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. 45 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/410 | Jinbe, Warlord of the Sea | QCK Jinbe | #REF! | NU | Today QCK Jinbe does not see play due to his special making very little impact in fights. At max level, his special will deal 14,196 damage which is quite laughable really. While the low Cooldown is nice, giving up a team slot just for a special that gives himelf a QCK orb is highly unfavorable. | Was used sometimes against Raid Monster Chopper and Raid Blackbeard due to his type and a guaranteed QCK orb with this special.

| Whitebeard Pirates Batch 2 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/449 | Twin-Blade Thatch | Thatch | #REF! | NU | Today Thatch does not see play due to teams preferring solid Orb Manipulation over increased chances of landing on QCK orbs. As such, units like Legend Kuzan V2 and QCK Rayleigh are more favored in QCK-including teams since they consistently provide QCK orbs while Thatch's special still leaves it up to chance. | Thatch was the premier captain against farming STR Turtles during Turtle time for his immediate 3x ATK Boost to QCK characters. He saw a good amount of use, sometimes as captain, against Raid Monster Chopper, Raid Blackbeard and Raid Kuma for helping with orb manipulation with his special ability and his risky 3x ATK boost captain ability. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. Therefore, combining this with Laboon and very specific team compositions, the team was
| http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/453 | Morning Star Rakuyo | Rakuyo | #REF! | NU | Today Rakuyo does not see play due to his rather lackluster special. He only provides matching orbs to two units when units such as Legend Kuzan V2 and Raid Tesoro can provide PSY orbs to the entire team. PSY-including, Striker and Driven teams have a plethora of options for Orb Manipulation and Rakuyo is not considered among those due to his Orb Manipulation being unable to match the strength of the competition. | Rakuyo saw some use in Striker teams against Raid Aokiji but has quickly fallen out of favor due to the lack of impact from his special. Special mention that at max Limit Break, Rakuyo's special becomes a part of the "Infinite Special Loop" team with TM Enel. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. Therefore, combining this with Laboon and very specific team compositions, the team was
| http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/451 | One-Hit Namule | Namule | #REF! | NU | Today Namule does not see play simply due to his weak ATK boost. 1.5x ATK Boosts are not preferred for teams nowadays and Namule faces competition from units who provide a stronger ATK Boost + additional benefits. These units include Raid Sengoku/Garp, Legend Sanji V2, Legend Lucy, Legend Kung Fu Luffy and DEX Koala. | Namule saw very fringe play in Fighter teams in order to deal with a Stage 4 miniboss in very early Coliseums | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. 50 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/457 | Heavy Artillery Curiel | Curiel | #REF! | NU | Today Curiel does not see play due to his very specific and extremely niche Orb Manipulation. Many Shooter teams are not capable of utilizing his specific orb generation and would rather run other, more efficient, Orb Manipulators such as some Sailor Abilities and specials like Legend Zephyr, Borsalino 6+, Legend Katakuri. Curiel has a difficult time finding a consistent spot on teams when his special requires more effort to have the same effect as the competition. I will mention one very extreme niche case for Curiel though. Curiel has been seen (very, very, very rarely) on Shooter teams with the role of using his special and moving that PSY/INT Orb into the captain slot in order to activate TM Boa's special. | Curiel saw minor usage in Strong World Ace teams when they were massively popular | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). 53 | Log Units | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/661 | Usopp Voyage Dream: Brave Sea Warrior | Log Usopp | #REF! | NU | Today Log Usopp does not see play primarily due to the lack of demand for a QCK Delayer. Given that this unit is an "Usopp" (and a Delayer no less), then that means that this unit competes for the "Usopp" spot on teams, if that is even necessary. This means Log Usopp faces competition from units such as Legend Usopp, Usopp 6+, Golden Pound Usopp, and Strong World Usopp. Outside of competing against "Usopp" units, Log Usopp must also face competition from other QCK Delayers such as QCK Diamante, QCK Garp, and Raid Shanks/Mihawk, who all provide better benefits than Log Usopp. Due to the inability to hold an edge over the competition, Log Usopp does not see play. | Usopp saw a good amount of play in Striker teams due to the class lacking a delayer back then. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. 54 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/651 | Nami Voyage Dream: World Map | Log Nami | #REF! | NU | Today Log Nami does not see play simply due to her weak Orb boost. 1.5x Orb Boosts are not preferred for teams nowadays and Log Nami faces competition from even F2P units who provide a stronger Orb Boost + additional benefits. These units include (Neo) Raid Doflamingo, (Neo) Raid Kuma, TM Whitebeard, and Coliseum Neptune (EX), | I don't remember the exact details, but I do recollect an instance where Log Nami was used way, way back in the day. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). 55 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/597 | Tony Tony Chopper, Voyage Dream: Great Doctor | Log Chopper | #REF! | NU | Today Log Chopper does not see play due to his rather lackluster special. Defense Reducers in general are not necessary on any teams and the presence of Defense/Debuff Protection puts a halt to Log Chopper's special. Bosses typically do not have notable amounts of Defense, unless specified otherwise, to warrant bringing a Defense Reducer. Even then, Log Chopper competes against a myriad of other Defense Reducers/Removers who provide a stronger Defense Reduction/Removal than Log Chopper's 50% Defense Reduction. These units include Invasion Garp, WCI Chobro, Coliseum Neptune (EX), Amande, Coliseum Magellan, Pekoms, and many more. As a result, Log Chopper fails to find a spot on teams due to him not being able to offer enough to the table. | I don't remember the exact details, but I do recollect an instance where Log Chopper was used way, way back in the day. Probably in some STR team | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). 56 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/580 | Roronoa Zoro, Voyage Dream: Master Swordsman | Log Zoro | #REF! | NU | Today Log Zoro does not see play due to his rather lackluster special and the fact that he is a "Zoro" character. His special is extremely niche and not worth utilizing as a BLOCK orb manipulator when both QCK-including teams and Slasher teams are perfectly capable of dealing with BLOCK orbs through other units. Also, the fact that this unit is a "Zoro" character means he competes against all of the other "Zoro" units, particularly in Slasher teams. When Slasher teams have a tough time considering between Legend Zoro V2, KB Zoro/Sanji, and Raid Zoro, Log Zoro does not have what it takes to even be considered. | I don't remember the exact details, but I do recollect an instance where Log Zoro was used way, way back in the day. It was like for some niche fight in a Slasher team. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. 57 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/613 | Brook Voyage Dream: Promised Meeting | Log Brook | #REF! | NU | Today Log Brook does not see play for his extremely lackluster special. Unlike pretty much all other units, Log Brook does not give a multiplier increase for ATK but rather a flat ATK boost (Instead of like a 1.5x ATK Boost, Log Brook gives +45 ATK to your units' base stats). When we are dealing with base stats in the thousands and damages in the millions, +45 ATK is not going to be noticeable during fights and thus makes Log Brook highly unfavorable for all teams. In regards to his Damage Reduction, there are countless alternatives for Damage Reduction such as even the F2P options of Raid Bartolomeo, TM Doflamingo or even the Coated Sunny special. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). The Orb Manipulation is very specific and there are plenty of even F2P alternative Orb Manipulators for Fighter, Powerhouse and DEX-including teams such as Raid Cracker, TM Ace, and Coliseum Lucy that provide much more favorable Orb Manipulation. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). 59 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/679 | Nico Robin Voyage Dream: 100-Year Void | Log Robin | #REF! | NU | Today Log Robin does not see play for her rather lackluster special. Orb locks are never necessary for teams and when they are, it's usually when the enemy has an interrupt against Orb Manipulation. In those instances, even F2P options such as TM Enel, TM Kizaru and Raid Doflamingo V2 are more preferred for the role. In regards to her Damage Reduction, there are countless alternatives for Damage Reduction such as even the F2P options of Raid Bartolomeo, TM Doflamingo or even the Coated Sunny special. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). 60 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/711 | Franky Voyage Dream: Ship of the Seven Seas | Log Franky | #REF! | NU | Today Log Franky does not see play due to his weak ATK Boost and niche Orb Manipulation. While his ATK Boost lasts for 3 turns, a 1.25x ATK Boost is extremely underwhelming and players rather prefer even the F2P options of Raid Zephyr and World Clash Ace as the ATK Booster. Also, his special does not convert BLOCK orbs into matching orbs but rather only empties BLOCK orbs which is better than having a board of BLOCK orbs but units such as Legend Zephyr and Legend Katakuri are much more preferred for the former reason. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). 62 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/645 | Ice Witch Whitey Bay | Whitey Bay | #REF! | RU | Today Whitey Bay does not see play as a sub due to her weak Conditional ATK Boost and the fact that she is unable to fulfill that Conditional ATK Boost by herself. The Bind/Despair Reduction is good utility but there are a number of other utility units who reduce Bind/Despair by more turns or provide other additional benefits such as Rayleigh 6+ or Ain. When comparing Whitey Bay's Conditional ATK Boost to other common Conditional ATK Boosters such as LRR Pedro, TM Boa, Hatchan and Raid Lucci, it becomes apparent that Whitey Bay's Conditional ATK Boost doesn't offer enough of boost nor is it self-fulfilling. The latter means the team must bring another unit in order to activate the Conditional ATK Boost and most teams can not afford to do so. However, Whitey Bay does see some amount of play as a Support unit. The ability to remove Bind/Despair has been key in certain fights such as against Invasion Young Linlin and doing so without sacrificing a team slot makes Whitey Bay a nice, viable Support option. One notable instance was Whitey Bay's Support use in Mihawk V2 teams against Invasion Young Linlin as TM Law (and Whitey Bay Support) was used to remove the Bind/Despair inflicted by Streusen which allowed the team to burst down Streusen using Amande to remove the barrier. This opened up a clean burst from Zoro V2 and Mihawk V2 on Invasion Young Linlin right after. | Saw some play in INT based Slasher teams, when Legend Mihawk was the best Slasher captain. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. 63 | Whitebeard Pirates Batch 3 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/643 | Maelstrom Spider Squard | Squardo | #REF! | NU | Today Squardo does not see play due to his Orb Boost being unable to compare against other, stronger Orb Boosts. While a 1.75x Orb Boost is acceptable, Squardo does not provide any additional benefit from his special and thus pales in comparison against the likes of Snakeman 6+, TM Oven/Smoothie, Invasion Sengoku, Legend Sanji/Judge, Coliseum Neptune (EX) and more. | Saw a good amount of play in both Striker and Powerhouse teams for the acceptable orb boost. Eventually gets ousted out of the Powerhouse team with the introduction of Raid Fujitora. Squardo was used primarily against Raid Aokiji and in Nekomamushi teams against Invasion Garp. It has been some time into the "Powerhouse" meta over on Japan and sadly Squardo did not take any part in that when he is greatly overshadowed by the likes of Snakeman 6+ and Sanji/Judge. Even on Global, the new Whitebeard V2 did not include Squardo into their teams when units such as Log Vivi, Legend Nami, and Coliseum Neptune occupied that Orb Booster role. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. 64 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/639 | Bohemian Knight Doma | Doma | #REF! | NU | Today Doma does not see play due to his rather lackluster special. His Orb Manipulation is pretty specific and teams would rather more efficient Orb Manipulators. If the team really needed to deal with PSY/INT orbs, the F2P unit of Raid Bellamy is much more preferred as he also provides a 1.75x Orb Boost. The 1 turn of Bind Reduction is near negligible when there are a plethora of other Bind Reducers such as TM Law. | Saw some use against Raid Monster Chopper and Raid Blackbeard as an acceptable orb manipulator back then. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. 65 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/647 | Little Oars Jr., Charging! | STR Oars Jr. | #REF! | NU | Today STR Oars Jr. does not see play due to his extremely niche special. Increasing the rate of STR orbs appearing is hardly ever needed when the team could just use solid Orb Manipulation instead. Against fights that have interrupts against Orb Manipulation, units that provide the Orb Beneficial buff such as Snakeman 6+ are still preferred over STR Oars Jr. | Saw very fringe usage in STR Sakazuki teams for the increased chance of STR orbs. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. 66 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/641 | DeCalvan Brothers, Brothers' Bond | DeCalvan Brothers | #REF! | NU | Today the DeCalvan Brothers do not see play due to a lackluster special. The damage they deal is negligible. From the database, "The exact multiplier used to compute the damage is proportional to the crew's remaining HP and is higher the lower the HP is. The multiplier is calculated as: 50 * ( 1 - (remaining HP) / (total HP) )." You can try to calculate the maximum amount of damage but it won't be anything incredible worth talking about. | Never saw competitive play due to a lackluster special. Combo teams never took off the ground. | back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. 68 | Revolutionaries | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/675 | Emporio Ivankov, Revolutionary Army | INT Ivankov | #REF! | UU | Today INT Ivankov sees small amounts of play as a viable defensive option when the team needs to survive for some amount of turns, usually to stall for specials. He sees play mainly in Free Spirit teams and defensive teams for his provided survivability. In regards to his Poison removal, INT Ivankov has seen play both as a sub and as a Support unit against specific fights which inflict a debilitating Poison such as vs. Coliseum Magellan when supporting Luffy. | Saw a lot of use in primarily Free Spirit teams across from the Timeskip Luffy era to the Luffy/Ace era. One example would be against Stage 3 Magellan variation in Coliseum Kanjuro. Ivankov's special also helps immensely in stalling in Training Forests. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. Therefore, combining this with Laboon and very specific team compositions, the team was
| http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/677 | Inazuma the Revolutionary | Inazuma | #REF! | RU | Today Inazuma sees very rare play in Magellan 6+ teams as a QCK damage reducer for the team which is not that easy to find for a Magellan 6+ team. However, TM Doflamingo is starting to frequently occupy the QCK spot on Magellan 6+ teams. For general purposes, Inazuma's Damage Threshold is greatly overshadowed by Raid Bartolomeo who provides a stronger Damage Threshold while also healing the team by 50% of its HP. The main niche purpose Inazuma fulfills is being a Slasher unit who provides Damage Threshold in a Mihawk V2 team. The only competition Inazuma faces here is Legend Bartolomeo/Cavendish and FN Rebecca. Inazuma made a notable appearance in Magellan 6+ and Brook teams against KB Zoro/Sanji at extremely high levels when the HP of the bosses reached numbers that even Luffy/Law could not burst down. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. Therefore, combining this with Laboon and very specific team compositions, the team was
| http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/671 | Koala the Revolutionary | DEX Koala | #REF! | RU | Today DEX Koala sees rare amounts of play as a DEX Fighter ATK Booster on a low Cooldown but faces immense competition from other Fighter ATK Boosters. This includes Rare Recruit units such as Legend Sanji V2, Oven and Legend Kung Fu Luffy. Even F2P units such as Coliseum Burgess and Raid Sengoku/Garp give DEX Koala some competition. All of these competitors restrict DEX Koala from seeing more consistent usage. | Saw a lot of play in Fighter teams such as PSY G4 Luffy due to the special being on a short cooldown and 1.75x is an acceptable boost. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. Therefore, combining this with Laboon and very specific team compositions, the team was
| http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/673 | Hack, Revolutionary Army | Hack | #REF! | RU | Today Hack does not see play due to his rather lackluster special. His special does not offer any utility nor does it provide enough of a damage boost to warrant running on a team over other options. 20% Health Cuts aren't that sought after and if the team really needed Health Cuts, Amande and (Neo) Invasion Young Whitebeard are always available. | Saw little amount of play in the "HP Cut OTK" teams due to his 20% Health cut special but better alternatives have pushed Hack out of this type of team. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. 73 | CP9 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/752 | Kalifa, CP9's Strongest | Kalifa | #REF! | RU | Today Kalifa sees play as a niche damage reducer/nullifier. This is most noteworthy against bosses who deal a ton of damage upon death such as Coliseum Pedro and Coliseum Oven and if the player lacked the more common ways to survive this such as Bartolomeo 6+, Legend RobinThis scenario is only a specific case and thus Kalifa does not see more play due to the lack of demand for this kind of damage reduction. | The Legend Crocodile "Dream Team" actually had 2 variations, depending on what the team needed for the upcoming fight but the premise of each of the roles remained the same. Like the Strong World Ace "Dream Team", this team covered all fronts in terms of ATK Boosts, Orb Boosts, Orb Manipulation and Locking, and some amount of utility. The team would have more damage output than the Strong World Ace "Dream Team" but not as much survivability due to the nature of Legend Crocodile teams. The first variation consisted of 2x Legend Crocodile, 3D2Y Robin, Raid Kuma, Raid Heracles'n and a QCK Cerebral unit (usually Kalifa). This team functioned very similar to the Strong World Ace team was well, with Raid Heracles'n providing matching orbs if positioned correctly and 3D2Y Robin to drop the team's HP to 1 for the maximum captain multiplier of 3.25x, delay the enemies if there were a large amount of surrounding mobs, and to lock the orbs for an additional turn of burst. Crocodile would then give a 2x ATK Boost after the team's HP dropped to 1 and Raid Kuma would give a 1.75x Orb Boost but also convert that one RCV orb into a matching orb. If you remember, Raid Heracles'n would be able to give 5 out of the 6 units matching orbs but that last unit (usually one of the captains) would be stuck with a RCV orbs and Strong World Ace teams often dealt with this one RCV orb unless they brought a unit to convert that such as FN Marguerite. However in this case, Raid Kuma would help convert that RCV orb into a matching which meant the team had a full board of matching orbs. Kalifa was brought for safety measures in case the enemy could not be delayed. The second variation was more offensively-focused than the first variation and consisted of 2x Legend Crocodile, 3D2Y Robin, Raid Kuma, Legend Doflamingo, and Coliseum X-Drake. Raid Heracles'n and Kalifa were swapped out for Legend Doflamingo and Coliseum X-Drake. With this team, the team sacrificed some amount of defense by dropping Kalifa in favor of more power as Legend Doflamingo provided the team with a second turn of Orb Boosts in addition to Raid Kuma. This team would then use 3D2Y Robin to drop the team's HP to 1 and lock orbs, Legend Crocodile to give a 2x ATK Boost, Legend Doflamingo to give a 2x Orb Boost and give 3 matching orbs when placed in the middle row and Coliseum X-Drake to give 3 matching orbs when placed in the middle row. What made this team so deadly compared to the first one was that if the fight needed to take a second turn, then the team still had Crocodile's 2x ATK Boost and Raid Kuma's 1.75x Orb Boost available in conjunction with the full board of matching orbs that 3D2Y Robin locked. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). Her captain ability was the best healing captain ability as no other unit at the time could passively heal as much as Vivi. While a 1.75x Orb Boost is acceptable, Jabra does not provide any additional benefit from his special and thus pales in comparison against the likes of Snakeman 6+, TM Oven/Smoothie, Legend Luffy/Ace, Raid Bellamy and more. The only niche use Jabra has is being used in Free Spirit teams for a quick 10 turn Orb Boost but overall Jabra fails to see more consistent play due to the competition. | Jabra only saw play back then when the player lacked a more viable orb booster for Free Spirit teams. However, he quickly faced fierce competition in both Powerhouse and Free Spirit classes. Powerhouse received the F2P option of Raid Fujitora and Free Spirit received Invasion Shanks, Legend Luffy/Ace and PSY Senor Pink as more viable options than Jabra. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). 75 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/750 | Kaku, CP9's Strongest | DEX Kaku | #REF! | NU | Today DEX Kaku does not see play due to his special not offering enough to the team's overall synergy. It was mentioned that DEX Kaku was used back then as a sub in Hody 6+ speed run teams due to his low Cooldown and AoE damage however two captains have taken over the role of Speed Run captain, Legend Carrot and TM Enel. DEX Kaku is unable to find a spot on these teams and with the additional competition from the likes of Coliseum Timeskip Kid, DEX Kaku's usage has plummeted. | When Kaku is max Limit Break, he saw a lot of play as a frequent sub in Hody 6+ teams. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). 77 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/760 | Kumadori, CP9's Strongest | Kumadori | #REF! | NU | Today Kumadori does not see play due to his rather lackluster special. He actually does not provide any Orb Conversion, but only allows the player to move orbs around. This is highly undesired when the team needs units to perform solid Orb Manipulation. Orb locks are never necessary for teams and when they are, it's usually when the enemy has an interrupt against Orb Manipulation. In those instances, even F2P options such as TM Enel, TM Kizaru and Raid Doflamingo V2 are more preferred for the role. | Saw the tiniest bit of play as an orb locker in STR Sakazuki teams but has quickly fallen out of the team due to low stats and a weak special. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). 86 | Donquixote Pirates Batch 2 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/872 | Sugar, Donquixote Pirates | QCK Sugar | #REF! | RU | Notorious as a staple in the "HP Cut OTK" team due to her unique special in executing the enemy. She was also seen in multiple other fights where the enemy revived with low HP such as against Invasion Garp, given you brought a silence reducer such as Raizo along with her. Today, she is pretty much outperformed by Invasion Garp who executes at a higher percent and has the flexibility of using his special for a 30% health cut instead. Also, Invasion Garp had higher stats than Sugar and this was a big deal since Sugar's low attack actually made it difficult to clear some strong mob stages. Sugar still sees play from players who don't have Invasion Garp ready to go yet. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). 87 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/874 | Senor Pink, Donquixote Pirates | PSY Senor Pink | #REF! | RU | Senor Pink was frequently used in Fighter, Free Spirit and PSY teams due to his universal 1.75x orb boost which many of those teams did not have access to. The next best option for an orb booster was Raid Doflamingo but was not boosted in those teams. Today, Senor Pink faces fierce competition due to more Fighter orb boosters such as Coliseum Ideo and Snakeman 6+ and Free Spirit orb boosters such as Invasion Shanks and Legend Luffy/Ace. PSY teams were eventually incorporated into Legend Kuzan V2 teams and the amount of QCK and PSY orb boosters make it hard for Senor Pink to see consistent play. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). 89 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/878 | Giolla, Donquixote Pirates | Giolla | #REF! | NU | Giolla was similar to Inazuma in that they were used as a damage reducer in certain teams. Giolla in particular was used as a damage reducer for Driven teams. Today, however, the release of Raid Bartolomeo pretty much shut down Giolla in her use as Raid Bartolomeo did everything she did but better. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). 90 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/880 | Lao G., Donquixote Pirates | Lao G | #REF! | NU | Lao G saw some amount of play in Legend Fujitora teams due to his combo with Raid Shiki for a full board of matching orbs but has seen less and less play over time due to his high cooldown and better alternatives for Driven orb manipulation. The release of Legend Doflamingo V2 and his batch really shut down Lao G since that crew could passively get matching orbs wiithout the need for a special. Lao G's Limit Break granted a large Cooldown reduction but was too late in bringing Lao G into teams. One note that some Driven teams used Lao G in Coliseum Pedro in order to get around the color orb debuff. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). 92 | 3D2Y Batch 1 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/912 | Sanji, Chef of Love | 3D2Y Sanji | #REF! | UU | When 3D2Y Sanji was initally released, he was used frequently in Powerhouse teams due to his strong 2x ATK Boost to Powerhouse characters. However the introduction of other Powerhouse ATK boosters brought competition for the role in Powerhouse teams such as Raid Sanji being a F2P unit and Fukaboshi having a lower Cooldown. 3D2Y Sanji eventually got his Limit Break and that reduced his Cooldown by 5 turns down to a reasonable 13 turn Cooldown. 3D2Y Sanji now sees occasional use in Powerhouse focused Snakeman 6+ teams but is greatly overshadowed by Invasion Young Linlin. He is only considered against QCK bosses. Also, the release of another incredibly strong Powerhouse captain, Sanji/Judge means that this particular "Sanji" unit can not be used. | Back then, Vivi was notorious for being a great captain to pair with a zombie captain such as Laboon in order clear certain content (Raid Garp flashbacks). 93 | http://optc-db.github.io/characters/#/view/908 | Nico Robin, Flame of the Revolution | 3D2Y Robin | #REF! | NU | Robin was a staple in the Crocodile "Dream Team" due to her special allowing Crocodile to reach his max damage potential as well as locking orbs for 2 turns of burst. However, this team eventually fell out of the meta and thus so did Robin. Today, she does not see play due to more efficient methods to reduce your own HP such as Coliseum Pedro and Legend Inuarashi.
