We need a new taxation modelResting all of New Hampshire's costs on property taxes is awful. It forces people out of their homes because they can't pay the taxes on them, and it increases rent until nobody can afford it. Taxes should be based first on income and next, at very high levels, on wealth. If an income tax instead of property tax is unpalatable, then we should index property tax to income. Public EducationNew Hampshire needs to fund public education for the betterment of society. Unfortunately, ever since charter schools became allowable in the state money, has been diverted from public education to charter schools. A recent bill in New Hampshire would divert funds from public education, even further by allowing people to take money from towns and apply it to whatever educational system they deemed worthy. The Free State ProjectMembers of the Free State Project have taken over the NH Legislature and have reduced or eliminated the State's financial support of towns and cities. We need to get money out of politics.I believe Citizens United decision started the demise of our political system. We need to stop big donations to politicians, at all levels. What if every taxpayer paid $20 to a public election fund. Every person who qualified to run for a race at any level ((state to federal) was given a portion of that money and could ONLY spend that money (no other contributions and no super PACs). Combine liquor stores with State controlled canabisNH has state controlled liquor stores and the lottery that contribute profits back to the state. All of the states around us have legalized cannabis and are cashing in. Why not look to expand the liquor stores to also sell cannabis? Cannabis LegalizationTo be clear before I post my reasons, I don’t personally use cannabis. With that said, all of the surrounding states have legalized it and the tax revenue it generates could easily help fund our public school systems in an impactful way. When will I be able to afford to live on my own?I have a full time job making great money. I don’t have a ton of bills and I do my best to save money.
