INFO FOR ICE CLIMBING TRIP TO LILOETT JAN. 24-25 (Sa-Su)

1. This trip is meant for a smaller group of moderate WI 3 to better WI 4 ice climbers. I plan to go with 4 persons total.

2. Minimum requirement is top roping on WI 3. Most of our routes will be WI 3, 4? and 5

3. Recommended transportation cost - BCMC rate: 10c / km /pers. with 2-3 pers per car -or- 7 c/km/pers with 4 pers -or- 5c/km/pers. with 5 pers in car. Return trip may be around 700 + km ($70/3, $49/4, $35/5pers.)

4. We will stay at Mile 'O' Motel in Lilloett for apx. $70/2, 75/3, 75/4pers in the room. (Room has 2 full queen beds / bring sleeping bag for privacy and ear plugs) ..plus 12 % GST ...Breakfast outside the Motel..Restaurant or Fast Food.

5. We will meet at St. David's Church West Van at Hwy.1 & Taylorway Saturday 5.50am leave at 6 am

6. Back in Vancouver Sunday, 10.00-11pm

7. Climbing routes might be: Rambles WI3-4, (Lower) Loose Lady 3+, Marble Canyon4-5, Oregon Jack 3-4 ???

8. Carpoolig to the church will be arranged on Friday 5-6pm. ---- Usually 'no problem'

9. The club rents out ice tools for $5 per piece/day.- via me/Werner

10. Ice tools, stiff mountaineering boots, crampons (absolutely no light wight aluminum),

11. Please try out/fit yr. crampons to your shoes before the trip..make sure they hold/work

12.Please bring your ropes, screws and anchor material for this event if you have it.

13. If we damage some one's gear: Rope is $ 20 per cut meter, a screw $ 50, a broken pick $ 50

From Werner to all, Mon/Jan 5/9pm: I have booked 1 room for 4 (5?) persons at the Mile 'O' already. Lilloett is almost fully booked for the week end - there is a hockey tournament in town! Retasket lodge is already fully booked. We may or may not get a second room at the Mile'0' at a later time.That - and the cheaper costs- is why I push a bit for 4-5 people in one room.

From Alan to Werner: Mike VW is wondering if there is room for a 6th person on this trip. I don't know about the lodging, but with regards to the climbing congestion we could climb as a second group.

From Werner to Alan, Wed, 3.30pm: Why don'y you team up - go on a private trip with MikeVW? I don't want to go with a) 6 persons nor b) with a mix of members and none members/MVW. If that is OK for you- feel free to pull out of this trip and team up with MikeVW for your provate trip. (We can always meet at the Mile 'O' and go for dinner together. - If you stay with this trip, I have to ask Mile O if they accept a 5th person for $10! - I assume that will be OK for them.

From Werner to All, (Wed)Thu, 12.45pm:---- I got an update on ice conditions per Tue/Wed from Robert Nugent: Ice conditions are moderate -wettt ---so,so I think we find enough ice on both days 80-90% but I can NOT guarantee it. It has a 20% chance to be a a hit and miss. ----- If you drop out after 5pm today/Thursday, David, Suzanne and Taylor each ows me $21 for the paid motel booking! Last cancellation time for Mile O (I guaranteed the booking with my Visa card) is Thursday before 5.30pm!

To get to my place, drive down Cleveland, take 2nd right (at Remax), drive down past Save On and take 2nd left (last left before dirt road. I'm the 3rd T/H from corner. --------From W, to S.
