39	Of average height for his age, Nate is somewhat stocky but in decent physical shape, thanks to his habit of training alongside his Pokemon. Not caring much for fashion, he usually just sticks to the somewhat formal "uniform" his mother makes him wear to school even when he's traveling - a white or blue button-up shirt and sturdy black slacks. He pays little attention to physical appearance in general, so usually tends to look a bit unkempt, leaving his shirts half-untucked or tie undone. His mousy ear-length hair is somewhat poofy and is often a frazzled mess even when he attempts to keep it in check. His dark hazel eyes always have a curious glint.							Nate grew up in the small town of Verdanturf, but was well accustomed to big-city life thanks to both his parents working in Rustboro. It was a short commute through the tunnel, and the family often spent a lot of time going back and forth. As soon as he was old enough, Nate's parents put him in Rustboro's most prestigious private school, having high expectations for their only child. A diligent child, he threw himself into his studies, sparing little attention for a real social life. Despite spending relatively little time all together thanks to work and school, Nate's family does care about each other, and he has a solid relationship with his parents. While they push him hard to do his best, they have always been receptive to his own desires and supportive of any goals he sets for himself. Nate first met Charlie while her family was travelling near Rustboro, a brief encounter in the flower fields near the tunnel on his way home. He was getting overwhelmed after trying to save a wild Ralts from a pack of Poochyena, and Charlie helped drive them off. The kids hung out for a bit while Charlie's parents gave the wounded Ralts some first aid to stabilize it, and Nate ended up taking it home and nursing it back to health. However, less than a year later Charlie and Nate ran into each other again, this time in Verdanturf while her family was on their way through the wilderness on a trek to Mt. Chimney. They decided to stay in contact after that, becoming close friends over the years as Charlie regaled him with exciting tales of her travels. Nate came to admire her passion and drive, regarding her as much more worldly and experienced than he could ever be. At the same time, however, that admiration also drove him push himself even harder in his studies, determined to someday be able to stand proudly by her side instead of just in her shadow. When the call went out for the Pokedex Challenge, it only seemed natural that the two would team up.
40	Personality
41	Nate seems friendly if somewhat shallow on the surface, but internally he's the type to always study and remember every detail of his surroundings. He's got a habit of rambling and a reputation as a gabber, sometimes not knowing when he's said too much. Still, he's got a kind and gentle nature and is quick to apologize for any unintended affront. He's a diligent worker, but he's no genius, and has earned most of his successes through hard work rather than inborn skill. He's not particularly gifted in any subject, not struggling with anything either; if he has any singular talent, it's for studying. He does have good instincts for handling Pokemon, however, and his friends often look to him for advice with their own training regimens. He seems to lack confidence, but there's another side to him that comes out under pressure - one that's quick to assess and take control in a crisis. He's not very self-aware, but with a little more maturity, this undeveloped aspect may grow in time.

43	Nate doesn't think much of himself, but he has great confidence that Charlie has a bright future ahead of her and is determined to help her reach their goals. If he can just be a part of her journey towards that future, he'll be happy.
