AI as a Thinking Partner: Developing an Inquiry MindsetAll Certified StaffAs educators, we much instruct our K12 students in age-appropriate AI Literacy. Rather than policing access to Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude, we need to instruct students (and ourselves!) on proper LLM use, similar to how we first learned to use scientific calculators. In order to do this, we need classroom time to play with the frameworks and prompts that will not only assist our graduates outside of school, but that will also reingage our disconnected students who have come to see AI as an easy way to cheat through History and ELA class. When we stop presenting AI as a glorified vending machine of fictional information and instead present it as a Socratic Thinking Partner, we wil stop feeling the need to ban it from the classroom.H. Martin2401
