Yes. I am disabled by a variety of physical conditions such as POTS, craniocervical instability, occipital neuralgia, and more, most of which are seemingly related to my having a connective tissue disease, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. I am also disabled by ADHD.
My physical disabilities impact my life in a variety of ways and have, in the last 5 or so years, specifically made things like commuting difficult as my body doesn't tolerate turbulence well and it can lead to pain and muscle spasms. Even activities such as sitting at a desk are difficult or impossible for me as being stagnant causes problems and the G-force exerted by things like sitting in a standard office chair can also contribute to pain and muscle spasms. As a result, I've had to modify my life in substantial ways such as shifting to remote work, only using a standing desk or only working in reclined positions, limiting travel and restricting myself to things within walking distance whenever possible, and I require a lot of help from my spouse. Following my experiencing disability discrimination and related harassment in the last few years at a previous position, the negative impact that had on my health means that now I can only work part-time as my healthcare needs are extensive and time-consuming and the work I am doing, though I love doing it, specifically exacerbates my pain and other symptoms.
ADHD has been disabling throughout my life yet has become much more obviously disabling in the context of my trying to manage my complex health conditions and symptoms along with a 20+ provider medical team while guiding much of my own care using my clinical and scientific backgrounds. ADHD also makes it challenging for me to briefly summarize things and organize my thoughts at times, thus the length of this response.
