Criteria:

In-demand is defined as any occupation in the college’s assigned region that:

1. Has new job growth projected for the period 2022 through 2027 within the region; and,

2. Meets or exceeds the median annual job openings for the region.

Steps:

A. Sort by net job growth for 5-yr period; all occs w/negative growth and/or 0 growth tagged as "No" and removed from calculation of median annual openings

B. Repeat for occs with "insufficient data" as net change.

C. Use remaining occupations to determine a regional median for annual job openings.

D. Identify occupations above or below regional median annual job openings and tag "Yes" if above or "No" if below.

High-wage is defined as any occupation in the college's assigned region where:

1. The occupational median wage is above the regional median wage.

2. The regional median wage is determined by those occupations where wage data is a) available and b) at or above minimum wage for CA in 2023 - $15.50.

Steps:

A. Identify occupations with "insufficient data" or 0 as wage; tag as "No"

B. Identify occupations with wage data but below $15.50 (2023 min wage for CA) and tag as "No"

C. Use remaining occupations and calculate regional median wage.

D. Identify occupations below the regional median wage and tag as "No"

E. Tag remaining occupations as "Yes"
