8				Column index 3 is the largest interest, but you can see on the graph that there's some kind of coarse hump. Just taking slot 3 loses some subtlety. Instead, we contstruct simple linear equations from the surrounding cells and find where they meet - 2.387 is a much better center point, from eyeing the graph. You could take polynomial shapes from more sample points for more accurate positioning.
