1 | Description | Provides standards-compliant datacenter hosting in CSE-IT physical space to serve CSE-related research, and consulting to ensure your research servers can be effectively hosted in our centers. |
2 | Clientele | CSE-affiliated researchers, including faculty, graduate students, and collaborators. |
3 | Inclusions | •Pre-purchase consulting to cooperatively meet your needs and our needs for effective and supportable servers. (We require this as part of setting up our hosting on your behalf.) •OMB Uniform Guidance (A-21) compliance. •Rack space. •Power conditioning. •Cooling & environmental monitoring. •Physical setup. •Physical security and monitoring. •UPS support. •Optional backup service. |
4 | Exclusions | •Administration- and instruction-related datacenter hosting is provided via other CSE-IT services. •Networking and firewall support are provided by other CSE-IT services. |
5 | Initiating Service | •Members of departments with an existing CSE-IT support relationship do not need to initiate service. •Units without an existing CSE-IT support relationship should email the CSE Service Desk. |
6 | Cost | •We install servers, but we don’t buy them for you: it’s your money and your server. We facilitates purchases through other CSE-IT services. •We charge for our hosting at our costs — this is a non-profit service. |
7 | Service Use | Contact the CSE Service Desk (5-0876, csehelp@umn.edu) to request hosting services and/or the attention of your IT Support Coordinator who can work with you to address your hosting-related needs. |
