Cascade Academy - De-escalation strategies such as giving the student time to process, using staff-student connections (preferred staff), teaching coping skills and de-escalation skills; Columbia Academy & C/A DTP - BSP/FBA reviews with student, family, and district reps; Debriefing meetings to discuss physical interventions and interventions to prevent future incidents; Use of Plan B conversations (Collaborative Problem Solving;. Frequent progress monitoring / BSP / IEP Reviews.

C/A DTP - Each student has a Behavior Support Plan (BSP) that outlines individualized strategies to support safe behaviors, ranging from proactive strategies to least restrictive interventions to try first and then, if safety is still not maintained, most restrictive interventions (physical interventions). Meetings to discuss potential patterns and implement additional interventions / proactive strategies. Cascade & Pacific Academies - CPS and de-escalation method; Levi Anderson - trauma informed CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute), CPI de-escalation, isolate from peers, mindfulness, motivational interviewing; C/A DTP - Monthly risk management meetings, Quarterly meetings with risk managers and program director to discuss how to reduce number of holds, ongoing consultation and training in Collaborative Problem Solving (and evidence based approach found to reduce physical restraints in treatment and school settings), focus in supervision on alternative behavior management strategies, ongoing use of the Thinking skills inventory to work toward more proactive approaches.; Groner - Revisions to BSP. Trainings and consultation have been and will continue to be utilized as a means of reducing physical safety issues in the program. Extended debriefing meetings are going to be used to strategize about more difficult cases and behavior support plans will include alternatives to safety interventions.
